What kind of photos should we post of ourselves online? ( Anything but those posed kissy-lips, please!) Do you like your online image better than your real-life one?

The video player loads fast, excellent audio and video quality, using firefox 3.0.3. using the latest flash player,on windows xp sp3. For the people having problems you might have to update your player, older versions have lagging and video problems in certain sites.
I guess the kind of photos we should have on line are the ones that portray most of the person in real life, an image that can tell other people how we are externally and internally; Why?, well, for an on line date site it will certainly save a lot of introductory words, let's say a picture of you holding a music instrument tells people:"I like music and I play (or pretend to play) a flute". Or holding a dog: "I am an animal lover and a dog owner", those are real life situations, also for ourselves in the future will bring good memories to see those pictures "ahh, I remember when I was learning to play" or "Remember Fido??" (Hypothetical name of the dog).
Brig, even when you suggested as a joke to send somebody to take pictures of you in real life, there are dating services that will offer precisely that service as a way to verify the information of the other person; with the excuse of sending you flowers they will give you a report as the conditions of the place and a picture of you "in real life".....so next time somebody sends you flowers...beware...somebody might be checking out to see if what you wrote on your dating site about living in a 20 bedroom mansion and being 140 lbs. as oppossed as a shack with 1 bedroom and a community bathroom and you being 230 lbs. in "real life" it's true or not. I made a suggestion worthy of a topic for Brigitte to make a video about. Cool. What is even cooler is she made a great video out of it, as always. Thank you Brigitte for mentioning me.
As for the video player problems (audio is fine but you only get a black screen). I had the problem with IE (Internet Explorer) but no Firefox. Then I fixed it on IE by updating adobe flash player and clearing out the cache. If people want instructions for that let me know and I'll post it.

I think with the advent of the digital camera, taking photos has lost a bit of its ritual. Because you can instantly see your work, and you dont have to pay to see them, less importance is given to creating a nice picture. More importance is given to saving a 'funny' picture for your social networking site. This could explain the facial trends you described as our photos are now seen as entertainment for other people instead of a nice memory for an album.
I second the name of cornelius for your lizard. That or 'Lee the lizard'.
A caption for you holding the rubbish should go along the lines of
"I won a dancing prize and all they gave me was this bag of mad frogs"
"I told you the snail had grown"
"They are now selling coffee by the bag load......woo hoo!"
Lastly the video player still requires some loading. I'm on a mac using safari. It usually takes a re-load after playing once (yes I do re-watch the episodes) or it will just be black with audio.

The video player on my firefox 3.03: first time no image, only sound, second time after logging worked but very slowly. The third time it was ok.
My thinking is that we must show us to others (external and internally) in only one way, the real one.
And that´s what you do in your videos. You´re shiny.

The video player is not working for me. I reloaded the page about a thousand times and still only sound, no picture.
I use the latest Firefox 2 version, if this is of any help.

weirdly, I wasn't having many problems with the video player till today. Now it's doing the audio only thing. a few reloads seems to fix it though.
I think candid shots are far superior to fake smiles, or kissy faces, or faux pathos via creatively shaped hair. But maybe i'm just biased because I am incapable of posing for pictures. Whenever I think I am smiling, the picture always turns out either looking angry or confused.
Do you like your online image better than real life?
Now there's a question.
I don't really know. Though there aren't really many pictures of me that I know of online (seperation of church and state), so visually no. But personally I would say yes. At least on the outside. which is the only part you have a choice about liking anyway. I'm not sure what I am talking about.

Any video less than superb will now be a disappointment. I feel spoiled in a good way. It was worth the wait - and, after all, we had Diwali to prepare for. (found the butter lamp!)
I thought about making a new "avatar" photo, but I seem to be having a bad face day. The dog won't look me in the eye, so I guess it is alpha in more ways than one.
THe photo, "Maiden with Trashbag", chosen to represent this video cries out for a caption or punchline. I hope your talented fans can come up with ideas, and maybe you'll tell them how to get the photo of you and Felicia Day. !!

All I'm seeing is a black screen. Audio is OK though. "Stage 9" and "ABC Family" splash screens show up OK, but then just a black screen with audio for your blog. Occasionally the video shows up OK, but usually it's just a black screen. For example, I played your video once with video OK, then hit "replay" and got the black screen.
