You love 'Gilmore Girls' because it's REAL -- it's about a different kind of family, a single mom and daughter who captured your hearts with their true-to-life dialogue. Now, ABC Family is bringing you another show about a different kind of family, created by Brenda Hampton (who brought us '7th Heaven').

'The Secret Life of the American Teenager' tells the story of one girl and her journey through an unexpected pregnancy -- and its effects on everyone around her. Amy (Shailene Woodley of 'The OC') finds out she's pregnant after having sex for the first time with school player Ricky (newcomer Daren Kagasoff). Afraid to tell her parents, or to admit the truth to herself, Amy turns to her two best friends, Lauren and Madison, for support. But her parents (Molly Ringwald and Mark Derwin) are so wrapped up in their own problems, they don't even notice what's going on with Amy.

The show is an honest look at issues teenagers and parents in America face every day -- and the sometimes painful, sometimes rewarding process of growing up.

'The Secret Life of the American Teenager' premieres on Tuesday, July 1, at 8/7c.

I am still not completely sure what Secret Life has to do with Gilmore Girls... but I do believe that Secret Life is a realist show... it explains and shows some of the pro's and con's of being pregnant at a young age.

i am now 19 an i was 17 when i got prego! i still went to school through the whloe thing. the show is good but it is way more dramadic than the real life thing. its more compicated then the show makes it.

Does anyone have any faith in Ricky anymore?! I mean, yes he was (WAS) a complete player and "necessary sex addict" but he could change! That, and he probably will because in the last episode (Unforgiven, Season 2) he seemed sincere! So sincere, in fact he hung up on Christian goody-good Grace and bed-buddy Adrian! He can change! Now if Amy would just forget about Ben...I mean, yes he was very sweet to her and loved her (supposedly) very much. But after a while it seemed like he cared more about Amy's baby than for her. That and he was SUPER clingy! I BELIEVE IN RICKY!

I luv the show it tells teens a real subject and how real it is. It was a great idea to do this show. I think teens will get a better veiw of everything.
