comment live from the 'mi07/24/08Thursday's the big day for Middlefans everywhere -- not only will the show's cast and crew be at Comic-Con International in San Diego, but they'll be spilling secrets at a panel featuring the horse's mouth himself, Javier Grillo-Marxuach. (MOUTH! I said mouth!) |

Some of us would like to dress as The Middleman for Halloween. Where can we find a similar Ike jacket and just how many buttons are actually on his jacket?
And with episode 12 now being the end of season 1 (and I know a lot of us are hoping for a season 2), it seems Dub Dub's father storyline has been relegated to the backburner. Will we find out any tidbits about her mysterious father in the remaining episodes?
Thanks for putting on the most cleverly written show in a long time. My friend and I often recite lines from the episodes during lunch because they are so memorable.
Nels
Are we ever going to find out the Middleman's real name, not that whole "his name is the same as his father's", but actually learn his real name, or shall it be something that goes on in mystery for ever and ever?
Holy crap. MM for halloween. That's...perfect! That's who i'll be. Anywho...after watching tonight's episode...why had I never even thought of a scene involving a swimming pool or water? Wendy Watson's underwater suit...yea. Great!
But on a serious note...do these episodes follow the comicbook...chronologically?
Hey Javi! My roommate and I are die-hard fans of the show. We especially love how you seem to dedicate the bulk of the nerdy references in each episode to a particular Sci-Fi or Fantasy movie or show. So, being Whedonites (dedicated followers of Sci-Fi/Fantasy genius Joss Whedon), we had to know: any plans to dedicate the allusions of a forthcoming episode to any member of the Whedon Triumvirate? I refer of course to Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, and the greatest sci-fi western of the last decade (go on, tell me The Middleman would NOT have been a fan!), FIREFLY! Such an inclusion would force me to emit fangirl squees of such a piercing and powerful nature, you would surely be able to hear them all the way out in California.
Cheers and beers, The Irish Cowgirl
Has Noser ever lost Stump the Band?
Javi, this is kind of a dumb question, but I have to ask. Does Tyler remember anything from the two days when he met Wendy? By the way I love the show awsome work!
SPOON!!
will the middleman ever have an arch nemesis that returns to plague him again and again?
will he ever face dinosaurs? because dinosaurs make everything better. not that the middleman can get much better.
Javi! After the latest episode, (Which was sheer elegance in its simplicity, might I add.
) I, and I'm sure many others have too, have reduced any thought of the Middleman and Wendy being together to a simple nothingness. Will Wendy and Tyler become "that old married couple", except for maybe a few arguments where they break up for a week or so? Or is there still someone out there to match Wendy Watson better than the oh-so-lovable Tyler?
Dearest Javi, pbsbelle here once again. I have this image of the Middleman watching old episodes of the Lone Ranger and Roy Rogers when he was growing up. He truly follows Gene Autry's Cowboy Code. Is this by design or just coincidence?
Yowza! The leather suit and a Honey Rider-Thunderball Nightmare...would Wendy have preferred a Raquel Welch-Fantastic Voyage Scuba Suit? After all, you've got a Cancersub, ahem, Middlesub. All you need is the ubiquitous shrink ray. And, Ida's tooling around HQ in roller skates. Wow, you've really got me crossing my fingers for a second season and hoping that your writers can see it in their hearts to concoct a cockamamie episode combining elements of Xanadu, roller derby, and Fight Club. Oh, and maybe that issue of Neil Gaiman's Sandman where the Greek Muse Calliope was being held captive. Xanadu, of course, was the tale of a Greek Muse inspiring a young man to open a roller disco. Roller derby is experiencing something of a comeback, where young artistic types (hint-hint), and now maybe Ida, can create by day, and work out their aggressions by night. Just like in...Fight Club, whose Narrator became his own Muse in the form of the Tyler Durden personality, creating a network of underground Fight Clubs across the nation that helped young men regain their sense of worth, and dabbled in a little bit of urban terrorism on the side. Hey, a guy can dream can't he? It's either a roller derby episode or a black-and-white, film noir, hardboiled detective episode. I'm thinking that the Middleman HQ occupies an entire city block, but only one of the storefronts is being used for the temp agency. Temporarily open up another storefront and let it be a detective agency, just so I can hear Em Em (Emmer?) say something really ridiculous like: "I'm gonna spin you right round, Baby. Like a record, Baby!"
Some people dream in black-and-white,
And others dream in color.
But when I see you in my sleep,
My dreams are sweet-and-sour.
What are The Middleman's hopes and fears?
noslengnow, google Military Surplus stores in your area. I know there is an Army/Navy surplus store in Tustin that operates like a thrift shop for military stuff. I offloaded all my dad's old Navy stuff there. But it's a great place to get period stuff since what you want is a 1940-1955 era jacket. If that fails, troll through sewing patterns to find the right look, go to your local garment district and buy up about 3 years of Drab Olive Wool and make it yourself (still get your buttons at the Military surplus store, though).

Yeah, sorry about that, the cosplayer in me came out. But that leads right into my questiono. Clearly, the costuming budget was used up in this episode. MM 69 had his own style of MiddleJacket, DubDub got her new look at the end, all three of them had fashionable aquatic costumes, and DubDub finally got to wear her wicked black leather get up as well. So, any more fun MiddleCostumes coming up in future eppies?
Oooh, sorry, couldn't find anywhere else to put this, so I'm gonna toss it in here. Javi, have you always wanted to be Cal Worthington? For those who don't live in Sunny So Cal, that's a reference to the penultimate car salesman who has been around for decades in the Southland. This is just a comment based on the recent MiddleMobile ads on the main page here.
does noser get a grilfriend in one episode if so let me know love yourbiggestfan mddmn
Because (like everyone who works on The Middleman) composer Tree Williams does awesome work -- there's been a lot of questions concerning the show's music. Will there ever be a MiddleSoundtrack? There's this floaty guitar song that's been used multiple times in the show (it's the piece of music in the beginning of the first episode) that I MUST HAVE.
i have the perfect episode it is a tie in with back to the future(my favorite movie).Wear marty terns out to be a former middleman in the 80's because of the time travaling.let me know what you think of it.

Ok, we get it... you like your car... and the commercial was amusing the first 300 times I saw it, but...
Ok, moving on to praise. Wow, cultural reference overload - lots of laugh out loud moments. Cryogenics. When can we expect the time travel episode?
