we're doing something different
welcome, middleman fans
Posted Thu, 05/29/2008 - 08:30 — The MiddlemanWelcome to the official website for the new ABC Family original series, "The Middleman." Creator and Executive Producer Javier Grillo-Marxuach wrote the pilot for "The Middleman" more than 10 years ago. But no one quite got his vision back then. Years later, he was working with comics writer Paul Dini, who convinced him to turn the story into a comic book.
Three years and as many graphic novels later, ABC Family picked up "The Middleman" as a series, helping Javi bring his original vision to life. (BTW -- we call him Javi, pronounced 'hah-vee.' You'll be meeting him soon too.)
The show follows Wendy Watson, a struggling artist who finds herself accidentally swept up in the surreal, ironic world of the Middleman -- where she faces eccentric villains, Chinese-Mexican martial arts masters, and a cranky robot librarian.
I'm Speaker, by the way. If I'm not the biggest Middleman fan, I'm not sure who is. And I'm beyond excited that I get to introduce you to Javi's unique world and vision as it unfolds on your TV screen. I've been a fan of "The Middleman" since before it was a comic (yes, that is possible), and I hope that on Monday June 16, at 10/9c, you'll become a fan too.
"The Middleman" stars Matt Keeslar as the Middleman, Natalie Morales as Wendy Watson, Mary Pat Gleason as Ida, Brit Morgan as Wendy's roommate Lacey, and Jake Smollett as Noser, who plays guitar in the hallway. You'll find more info on them in the 'cast' section and other parts of this site. So explore! You never know what you may find when the Middleman is involved.

Best show in ages! I totally get it! Hope you doo too!
I made this!
Speaker, Never realized graphic novel is 10 years old... Point At Things!
John - Not Middle, err, Locke
The graphic novel's not 10 years old - just the original script!
Mandangos. This is very exciting, indeed. I thihk I'm missing one of the graphic novels, must go dig through my comic con stuff from the past two years.
Ok so I am not going to judge this show because I havent seen it....but if this is why they are taking Wildfire off the air it better be AMAZING x infinity!!!
I hope its good though...
I can't be SURE - because they don't tell me these things, but I think that this coming around after WF ended is a coincidence. I doubt that they're getting rid of WF to make room for MM - especially since MM's a summer start.
But I do think it's amazing x infinity (though I may be a TAD biased. ;D)
I'm not so sure bout this show. I'm gonna try and watch it, but so far it doesn't look too interesting
I think the show looks promising. I don't think you can blame Middleman for the end of Wildfire. I think ABC Family decided separately that Wildfire had run its course. Given the number of people who seem to watch Wildfire, that may be a mistake on their part, but you shouldn't blame Middleman.
I so agree with farmgirl10. If this is the why they are taking Wildfire off, it better be good. Otherwise they are making a HUGE mistake. It better be good.
Shows are never taken off the air to make room for another show. Quite the opposite. When a show has run it's course or is deemed to no longer be profitable to the network, it removes it. This might happen after running for 10 years, or after 10 episodes, or after 10 days, we've all seen this happen before. The network then needs to replace that programming with something it hopes will fit in that time slot and be profitable. In the case of a long running series, it usually ends at the end of a traditional season, and a new program is introduced the following season. In the case of a new series that is not working, you may see a few weeks of filler material before a new series can be put into that time slot. But a new series is never, ever the cause of the end of an existing series. Hollywood just doesn't work that way.
Natalie Morales reminds me SO much of Amanda Peet in "The Whole Nine Yards". This is gonna be fun.
Since Javi wrote for LOST, which episode will the smoke monster appear
Not sure why, but there are a LOT of birthday wishes to someone named SPEAKER over at InsideTheExperience.com
What's that all about?
OMG! I just saw that they are auctioning off a chance to meet the creator Javier and hotty Jake Smollett on the set for a charity named Artists for a New South Africa on this site called Charity Folks. The link is www.charityfolks.com/ansa wish I could buy it but I'm broke as a joke!
but just wanted to give all the new fans a heads up!
p.s. If anybody loves me... buy it for me! lol. Happy bidding!
THIS SHOW IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
