gregory harrison speaks ... and surfs

What if you could talk to the "Au Pair 3 Adventure in Paradise" star? Well, we did -- but we'll share!

Gregory Harrison has now starred in three "Au Pair" movies, so there's a TON of stuff we wanted to ask him. Naturally, we thought we'd start with what everyone wants to know.

Gregory Harrison: [Jake Dinwiddie and Katie Volding] will always do whatever they can to break somebody up on camera. Bugs were used often, because there are a lot of bugs in Puerto Rico. You never knew what you were going to find placed somewhere in your clothes, your shoe, your handbag, whatever. It [was] just relentless and endless, but extraordinarily funny too.

ABC Family: Seriously, what was it like to work with Heidi, Jake, and Katie again?

Gregory: Heidi is just a really wonderful human being ... besides the obvious attributes of her beauty, she's got a kind of sweetness and nobility that I think attract the audience. It certainly was attractive to me the first time I met her. And she's easy to work with -- always accessible and interested in making the best possible film. She's always game. She's always willing. I really enjoy her company, and I think it's mutual.

Katie and Jake are not only adorable at first glance. As you get to know them, you also see a mischievous side that I'm not sure if any of our movies really do justice to. They're brutally mischievous with each other. They're pranksters, and they make each other laugh, and they are relentless. And I just love hanging around that and watching them do it.

ABC Family: Did they have time to just hang out together?

Gregory: Absolutely. We actually had a few days before we began, where we rehearsed and had lots of free time ... . Puerto Rico is just filled with beautiful landscapes, [and there is] some really interesting history in San Juan. It has the rain forest, which we shot a lot in. [It's] a world-class rain forest with lots of environmental and ecological tours and information. We took advantage of all of it.

ABC Family: What was your fave part of making the movie?

Gregory: I finally was able to surf on film, something I've been doing since I was nine. [Surfing] really is probably the passion of my life, and I was able to spend a couple of days just filming [the] beach and [surfing] and being closer to who I am than anything else I've done. I was born on an island, [so] anytime you put me on an island, I feel at home. Anytime you put me in the ocean, I feel even more comfortable than when I'm on land. So I was in my element.

ABC Family: Hmmmm ... wonder if Jake felt the same way.

Gregory: There's a scene where [Jake] had to go out and surf, and he has never surfed in his life. What little you see of him falling in the movie was just a small taste of just how badly he ate it in real life. I tell you, all of us showed up at the dailies the next day to watch that footage ... we had tears running down our faces [because of] what, in surf lingo, a kook he was. I'm not sure he's lived that down yet.
