Want to kick serious butt? Post your comments live from the "Samurai Girl" Comic-Con panel using your laptop or cell phone. Or, if giving an as-it-happens play-by-play isn't your scene, post a recap later. Either way, you'll score some samurai points by letting other fans know what you think about the sneak peek, the stars, and the surprises. (FYI: That was us being purposely vague.)

If you can't be at the panel in person, you can get the next best thing by checking out the fan comments as they happen -- right here from noon to 1pm PST (Cali time) this Friday, July 25. Hey, you can even post your own question, and some swell "Samurai Girl" fan at the panel just might ask it for you. Now that would be living by the samurai code.

What are you looking forward to most about the "Samurai Girl" Comic-Con panel?

Just try getting the image of Jake falling off the mountain out of your mind. Heaven had to cut someone's rope, right? But why did it have to be Jake's?

Was just at the booth with Jamie and Stacy and they looked stunning - I'm sorry that's all I have to say, but I couldn't hear the G4 interview over all the cameras and voices - panels about to start and I'll be commenting as it happens. Smiling

Speaker's picture

John R from ABC family, moderator of the Middleman panel, is moderating this one - he's a really funny guy....

Speaker's picture

John is pimping the channel, all the movies the have TMNT, Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia, 700 Club (ha ha) - time for Samurai Girl!

Speaker's picture

They're playing the trailer for SG - same one we've seen on the channel. A new kind of warrior for a new kind of family!

Speaker's picture

Luke Mcullen (writer and producer) comes out - and then the creators come out and then Stacy Keibler and then Brendan Fehr and finally... JAMIE CHUNG!

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!!! ITS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO KOOL!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!! CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!

Speaker's picture

They start with questions - first one is a comment for Brendan - nice to see another Roswell star in the spotlight... and he wants a t-shirt. Smiling

Next question is from another Roswell fan - what kind of training did Brendan have to go through for SG - stunt choreography, just imitate that - but they learned basic blocks and strikes in about two weeks (ten hours a day) before the pilot.

Speaker's picture

Next q is from an ALIAS fan wanting to know if any Alias elements in SG - answer, great strong female lead and a real mythology so there are similarities.

Speaker's picture

John R the moderator wants to know what it was like adapting the book - and the writers say that the material was rich and even though there are changes it's a good adaptaattion - next is a stacy keibler fan from her WWE days. He wants a photo.

-- does stacy kick as much butt in SG as she did in WWE - more so!

More stacy questions - she play's Jake (Brendan)'s fiance - bit of love triangle, she stirs the pot - she's in the drama and action and she promises surprises.

John the moderator has a question about "Heaven" for Jamie - what's it like preparing?--- jamie says that it was emotional, more drama than the real world. Lots of challenging. Getting fit for the role, trying to keep up with Stacy, but it was so much fun --- question for Jamie, does she do her own stunts and does she take Martial Arts to keep in shape or what's involved in her fitness routines? -- jamie does work out but she took martial arts for 2 weeks when she was a kid before she sprang her finger (ha!) but she tries to do her own stunts but can't do all of them. Also, she is "one with the sword" - lots of sword fighting. ---- youngster asking stacy a question. does she have more fun wrestling or acting --- stacy says they're two different worlds, the rush of the crowds is so different than performing to a camera. she loves them both.

Speaker's picture

another youngster wants to know how many seasons/volumes they'll have lmao --- hopefully more than one says Jamie - so WATCH! ----- John the moderator says that if it does well on sept 5th 6th and 7th, there'll be more ----- for the cast, anyone gotten hurt? --- Jamie says they use aluminum swords for fight scenes, but they have all gotten nicked in fights, brendan did a huge fight sequence and insisted doing every little thing and all there were all these gags (special effects) that made it look so rough, but it was all the FX. ---- next is another stacy question, what brought her interest ---- stacy loved the script and the arc she has in the show. it's something she hasn't done before and getting back to her acting roots was the best experience. ----- John the moderator asks Andre what the diff between writing a 6 hour versus 23 hour tv series and andre says that it's kinda exciting to do something where you definitely know what's happening in 6 hours - made the cliffhangers easier. ---- question: how'd you decide what direction to take the series? --- they didn't want to just tell the book stories since the books spoil it, so they took the archetypes from the books and told their own story and they have left it open for a series.

Speaker's picture

next question for the actors - did they have to demonstrate any physical fitness when auditioning? ---- jamie says the writers took their word on it for the most part, but the auditions were a pretty grueling process, she had to audition multiple times and go through every emotion possible, but she enjoyed it.... though she lied about knowing martial arts. Wink ----- writers were worried that jamie wouldn't be able to kick butt with the sword but they got a call from their stunt guy and Jamie had hurt him and sent him to the hospital - they knew then they had the right girl lmao -------- Stacy felt the stunts came natural especially after wrestling and dancing with the stars and jamie says the fighting is like dancing and that stacy's a good partner. -------------- another stacy question from one of her biggest fans, what was the hardest between WWE, Dancing, and SG? ---- They're different, wrestling kills your body and she was in so much pain, dancing with the stars was exhausting and stressful but so exciting. It was so overwhelming she barely remembers it. SG was something she's always wanted to do and she feels like she's living her dream and working with great people and had such an amazing time... she doesn't know which is more difficult because Acting is emotionally more difficult, and after one fight in the series she could barely move the next day - everything's been a challenge but all amazing experiences ----- how was it taking the RKO from Randy (Missed last name...)? Stacy said it was one of the most fun things she's ever done. ------- Next q - since the series will spark more interest in the books, will the books be re-released? And John the Moderator brings the questioner a free book! So there are more down at the booth and are being re-issued to stores with Jamie's picture. --- next q is from Jamie. How does this relate to ChiChi in DRAGONBALL!!!!!!!!! WOOO! ---- ChiChi is Jamie's fav character name, she says both are both strong females but heaven gets a great backstory and is more interesting, but chichi is there for goku, and you don't know much about chichi - so watch SG before DragonBall ---- John the Moderator he asks brendan how his roll in SG is diff from Roswell (everytime he says roswell, people squee lmao) ---- brendan says they're different species....first off. ha. both are outsiders, keep to themselves, have something to hide, michael his alien origins and jake is hiding from the yakuza - both have a certain amount of power, but michael wanted to use it but couldn't and jake doesn't want to use it but has to. They're violence comes from a different place.

Speaker's picture

New fan wants to know basic plot and did the actors read the book? --- brendan's character is not in the books, he's loosely based on one though. Brendan didn't read it though. Jamie says that the spirit of Heaven in the book is the same as the series. The writers say that the plot is somewhat shrouded in mystery, but hte general things you'll know going into it is that Jamie is Heaven who is a sheltered daughter of a japanese business man and the story opens on the day of her arranged wedding, she doesn't know her groom very well but is doing it for her family but Ninjas attack her wedding (applause) and she finds out in the aftermath that the world isn't exactly the way she's been led to believe it is and she to find the forces that are behind hunting her family she has to train as a samurai and kill ninjas!

Speaker's picture

Comment about Jamie, he saw her on Real World SD and he knows of Jamie's korean descent and.... that's it lmao ------- next q, how did the producers get started as writers/producers --------- just keep writing and writing and writing about stuff you're passionate about, if you have the material and the passion it's a great arsenal ---- and they're playing the trailer again now that we have some more context.

Speaker's picture

Samurai girl recreated San Francisco in Vancouver ------- next q for the girls ---- any interesting cat fights on the show? ---- the girls say that's what they do on their personal time ha ha slumber parties.... John the Moderator says it's ABC FAMILY - hullo? ---- a q for Jamie Chung, after doing SG has it renewed her interest in martial arts and Jamie kinda geeks out about it, she's only watching action movies now and trying to figure out all the deets about the stunts and martial arts styles. And she will continue to train --------------------- Q about what the most fun part is....... Jamie loves in between shots when they play pranks and have fun. --------------- another q for stacy about her character on what about brian ---- stacy enjoyed her character, she auditioned for a different part and they wrote her character after her audition. after that she got into class because of her experience there and she met Jamie at her acting class. But she's having more fun on SG. --- one of jamie's old high school friends asks a question - why filmed in Vancouver instead of SF? -------writers say tons of reasons, it's cheaper and vancouver is a very film friendly town, lots of crews, lots of locations. ------------- John the moderator introduces Eepy Bird (the Diet Coke Mentos People) and they're doing a special video.... now. They're about to show us the sticky note experiment. There are four thousand POUNDS of sticky notes in their studio. the people here are the first people outside their studio to see the sticky note experiments - the short vid is just the beginning, the big huge experiment is going to debut during the premiere of Samurai Girl on Sept 5th. VIDEO TIME!

Speaker's picture

it's basically slinky sticky notes, but it looks REALLY cool the things they do with them - it's all coordinated and colorful and really neat.

Speaker's picture

Q for SG panel - how did they stumble upon the book and decide to make an event out of it ----- -bob levy, the man behind gossip girl, he works at the company who put out the samurai girl books...... he got the writers on board to adapt the books. ------ john the moderator asks eepy bird what it was like working with Jamie...... they say she was awesome and she was scheduled for a 4 hour shoot and she stayed well beyond her alloted time. AND THE PANEL CONCLUDES!

Cast was very pleasant. I knew that Brendan Fehr looked familiar besides Roswell. He was on CSI: Miami! The entire cast did a great job answering all the questions even those focusing on just Stacy Keibler. Thank you!

Because I don't. well, does anyone really ever wish that they could just find the one persone who would love them for who they are? huh.
