'samurai girl': from page to screen

Before "Samurai Girl" became an edge-of-your-seat special event, it was a keep-you-up-at-night book by Carrie Asai called "Samurai Girl: The Book of the Sword." There are five other books in the series, too: "The Book of the Shadow," "The Book of the Pearl," "The Book of the Wind," "The Book of the Flame," and "The Book of the Heart." From page-turner to must-see, "Samurai Girl" kicks butt in any medium.

Are you a fan of the "Samurai Girl" books? If so, how do they compare with their TV counterpart?

Ive read the first book. And actually there are a lot of similarities. Heaven, Cheryl, and otto are all in it. Although otto has a smaller part so far from what ive read. Then instead of being Jake the guys name is Hiro. He is a guy that Heaven met as a child in Japan (Hiro is japanese also). So that part really kinda makes more sence.
Then there are a lot of things just kinda based off of the book, but not necissarily the same. Like the scene in the show were Heaven and Jake are fighting and then Jake ends up landing on top of heaven. That is in the book, but hiro lands on top of her for a different reason.
I also saw a video thing that said they changed a lot of things from the book because they didnt want be who read the book to be bored or already no whats going to happen. So if your upset cuz they changed it so much thats why. Just to make it more interesting i guess .. .

sorry, i'm no fan of books haha so i only watched the series on tv. this needs to be a real show so we can see all the great actors back! jamie, brendan, stacy, saige, kyle, jack, kenneth, steven...

This is the best mini series I have seen in a very long time. I really hope that this turns out to be a weekly show. It was thrilling, kept you guessing and just plain old entertainment. Thanks, ABC Family for doing a terrific movie.

that was pretty much NOTHING like the books. Jake? What happened to Hiro? I never heard of this butler guy, or the computer, or the club that she went to. Jeez, the only thing the same is that her name is Heaven.

From what I heard and what i know of the script, I can't wait to see it on the air in Canada. Fights and stunts are amazing. When will we be able to see it in Canada?

I read the books a few years ago when they first came out and I was excited when I heard ABC family was making them into a series. But then I found out it was just another short miniseries like Fallen and I was a little disappointed. I thought the books had the potential to turn into a great weekly show, especially after they gave Wildfire the axe.
