Leave it to Ashley to give some of the best advice yet. When Amy is confiding in her about how she wants to make changes in her life and how she wishes she could just start again and do things differently, Ashley tells her that’s impossible: “Just because you have John doesn’t mean your life’s over. It just means you have to realize your dreams in a different way, get some new dreams.”
What kind of dreams have to be re-imagined for Amy? College? Relationships? Money? Family? Think of all the things that change when someone becomes a teen parent. Have you ever thought about how YOUR life would change (half of all teen haven’t ever even thought about it!)
Right now Amy is dealing with some tough stuff at home and with Ben and at school. What do you think this year would look like for her if she hadn’t gotten pregnant? Would Ben be in the picture? Would she and Ricky even know each other? Would she be friends with Adrian? What would her high school experience be like? What would her situation with her family be like? Tell us in the comments! Amy and Ricky should not be together! I think she needs to break things off with Ben and just get her life back on track... Men and sex just complicate things.. Its so obvious Ben cheated on her anyways... But who knows what will happen the show is all about the drama anyways.. Im getting annoyed with you Amy and Ricky fans

Actually I think that if Amy hadn't slept with Ricky, her life would have been close to perfect. She would still have found her true love in Ben and her life would have been free and uncomplicated. She would have been able to realize her dreams and the sky would have been the limit for her. The only thing that's different now is that she gave her virginity to the wrong guy and has a baby by him and she will have to live with that for the rest of her life, which [filtered word]. She'll just have to learn to forgive herself for this huge mistake because she's only human and isn't perfect. Besides, Ben has already forgiven her.

I believe after seeing the preview of the all new season amy and ricky may start something it may be the beggining of something new they should just be together for the sake of their son john I got pregnant at 14 and my child's father is not in the picture so im raising him alone with the help of my family I really think sex shouldnt be done before your married becuause it"s so much that can get in the way of your goals you have planned for yourself and once you do it it their"s only one first time and its best to do it when your mature and ready to have a baby i wished i did but things don't always work out the way you want it too but anyways i think amy is a great independent single mother she doing the best she can and i respect that alot I hope whoever she decides to be with will treat her the way a woman should be treated and will love her for her.

I feel like this is such an immature post. Just because you go out with someone does not mean you have to have sex. That is the problem with this show and frankly with a lot of people. Sex does not make someone love you and sex will not keep a man if he wants to leave and the same with a woman. and I also think that Amy does not need to be with anyone because she has no clue who she is as an individual and you cant have a healthy relationship with anyone if you dont even know who you are independent of them.

The one thing people need to know is that Christians commit sins just like everyone else. I think the show is still finding its way. There is too much sex. I think the show is still good it just needs to stay focus on the point of how difficult it is being a teenage parent. It shows everyone how this changes every individual involved lives. Its a show people Amy is very fortunate to have the support from her family and friends. Oral sex is sex grace is beautiful inside and out leave Jack alone.
I can't wait for the new season!!! The family is getting along great!

everything on this show is not real. i got pregnant at 15 and my life change way more than it has for amy on this show.They give amy a companion something that single teenage mothers have a hard time finding, someone who understands them and wants to be there for them. The only thing that has come close to reality on this show is amy wanting to be with ricky now because of john, realizing she wants the father of her child in their lives.

To answer the original question. Oral sex is it still sex? My answer is; I think its very attractive to us to think it isn't sex so we can relieve ourselves sexually without "losing our virginity", but the word "sex" is in it for a reason. Though it doesn't have the risk of pregnancy it is such a personal act to have oral sex (for some even more personal than actual sex because only one person is really being pleased at a time, the other is in a place of extreme vulnerability), that it has the emotional and physical feelings of sex. You are still being bonded with that person and you are still being sexually aroused about as much as sex. That said , I think Jack is on to something. It is your choice as to whether or not you consider oral sex the same as actual sex. It isn't black and white. However for a christian like Grace who doesn't want to have sex before marriage, I don't think oral sex is a safe way to deal with it. I don't think God when he said do not have sex out of marriage would have added "but oral sex is fine." And I already explained about some reasons why that is. I think Jack is just trying to find a way around Grace's decision because he doesn't truly believe that sex before marriage is wrong, so he either needs to find a girl who shares his beliefs or respect Grace's beliefs and stop pressuring her if he truly loves her.
I really wish that they hadn't taken the easy way out and portrayed Christians the way that they did. Even in the beginning, they showed Grace as being a bit of a ditz and that's sad. I watched the show Glee for the first time, and their portrayal was even worse. For the other question, Oral Sex is still sex and should wait until marriage.

I totally agree! At first I was impressed at this show for having a christian character because there is almost no representation anymore of Christians on tv and when there are they are just "good-two-shoes" or portrayed as ignorant Bible thumpers, but most Christians aren't like that, just the extremes that make news. However, I don't like how Grace's family misrepresents Christianity by acting firm in their faith and then not knowing why they believe what they do. Its ok that she made the mistake and had sex, but if she is not sure why she even is supposed to abstain from sex then her faith didn't have a firm foundation to begin with. Christians (and everyone really) should know why they believe what they do. Its like the show producers are insulting Christians and saying they have no real basis for waiting till marriage, but we do have our reasons and we aren't just blindly doing whatever we are told. I think this show needs to have respect for the religion and beliefs of others and carefully portray people of all different cultures and religions without falling into stereotypes. If Grace really wants to know why we teach abstinence a few reasons are that we believe God made sex as a sacred act to bring two people into "one flesh" and the very act of sex is a representation of God's love and relationship with us. So to have sex with more than one person binds you to another person physically for the moment, but emotionally and spiritually forever. God tells us to have no other God before him so we can only have one God, that's probably why he made us to only have one spouse. So having sex with more than one person is like cheating on our future spouse in a similar way that having more than one God is cheating on our God. So not having sex before marriage is the solution to not bonding with more than one person, because once married you have a commitment that is supposed to last forever (even if you are engaged the engagement can break off). Now the show producers may or may not agree with our beliefs about sex and that's totally fine, but if they want to have a christian character on the show they should at least represent Christians beliefs fairly.

but besides that is anyone else getting kind of sick of the show? dont get me wrong i still like it but its the same old same old all the time! its bugs the crap out of me how all they talk about is sex i mean come on that is not at all the only thing teens talk about at all! and also the show goes in circles! one couple breaks up one day there back the next. not all teens stay with the same boyfriend/girlfriend forever! i want to see more variety in the couples and not them ending up with the same person every time! okay im done venting and getting annoyed about a tv show lol
I agree with this too. I hate it when a show will do anything just to get ratings . When the show becomes unrealistic and the characters start doing crazy things that aren't even in their "character" to do I stop watching the show. So far I think I can see the characters staying in their original personalities, but this show is in danger of becoming a drama queen. I particularly hate it when relationships are going on and off and partners are constantly switching just to keep us on our toes. And it does kind of seem "fixed" and "unnatural" that people are talking about sex all the time. But so far I am still watching the show because though it isn't perfect in its portraying different views accurately, I think it does a decent job of making us think wisely about things like sex and hearing different views, compared to most shows. Rather than just portraying that "everyone" is doing it, the show does try to teach morals and depict difficulties of life without glamorizing sex and drama too much. Its a show I think where the producers are trying to get into the heart of teens, families and growing up, and provoking us to think, rather than just mindlessly entertain. ---So producers please take that as feedback that we want you to stick to what makes you unique in this show and not just end up like every other show that just relies on whatever would be the most shocking to decide their script.
If Amy didn't get pregnant, there would be no show. Ben is falling for that Italian girl and Amy is falling for Ricky.

i think in the new season Amy and Ricky will be together for a short while. On episode 23 Adrian gets date raped and Ben sees it and tries to help her. Then Ben get hurt ... life threatening.. same with Adrian but not as bad as Ben. Amy gets the news (shes with Ricky now dating..) and she gets her feelings back for Ben (Ben's not with the Italian girl anymore..) and Ricky gets his feelings back for Adrien. Amy and Ricky have been together for a very short time. I READ THIS ON THE SPOILERS Angel I don't think this part is true i read this on one of the blogs.- After Ben saved Adrian Ben starts like Adrien even though he knows Amy wants to get back together. Ricky really doesn't care and he wants to be with Adrian.. then i think Amy and Ben get back together after a while... idk if this part is true but the top before is said i read this on spoilers is true.

When secret life first came on, i was so thankful that finally a show that would have Christian moral and values. I know the show is based on Amy's pregnancy, but it seemed that Grace's family was helping her and honoring Christian principles. That dosen't seem to be the case anymore. I am disappointed in the direction the show is going in.
I know exactly how it is i was 17 when i had my first child so i can feel her pain in some aspect. She can do it anyone can you just have to think of yourself and accept help when offered or you will go crazy and get so exhausted! I love this show it is my favorite!! Cant wait for the new season!

She's pretty much always right, and she's very mature. Ashley ftw! ;D
I'm not going to say "If Amy hadn't gotten pregnant..." because she did get pregnant, and I have no idea what her life would be like otherwise haha. The whole point of the show is teenage pregnancy, dealing with the responsibility of being a parent, the struggles you'll have to face, etc. So, there would basically be no Secret Life if she hadn't gotten pregnant, and I really don't wanna think about that LOL.
Even though after Amy's pregnancy she became moody and selfish, I think that she grew up a whole lot! She still has a lot of things to get through, but in my opinion, she's not doing horrible, she's actually doing okay. =) Since Amy has John now, she needs to look at things from a different view point than before, that's all. The only thing she should be concerned about right now is being a good mother, she needs to think about John before thinking about anyone or anything else. I definitely think that she should make A LOT of changes in her life. I think it would be a good idea for her to start over, I think that's what she might need, and what she might have needed earlier too.
I do consider oral sex as sex, but that's just me haha. When Adrian was talking about her first time having sex, I think I might have almost shed a tear, it was really sad. I think that Ricky needs to go to therapy a lot more and Adrian should go as well, since we all know she has a lot of issues to work out and all. But I don't really think they need therapy for their relationship, together. Even with therapy, their relationship will always be the same, in my opinion. I seriously think that they need some time away from each other, even though they're doing pretty well right now. And NO, it's not because I am a Ricky/Amy fan, because I know you Ricky/Adrian and Ben/Amy fans will think so, it's because that's the way I see things. I think that both Ricky and Adrian are better people when they are apart.

remember there wouldnt be a show if it weren't for amy getting pregnant, so for us veiers its sure a good thing she did get pregnant, in a way. but i cant ait for the new season. i cant believe we have to ait 4 whole moths before it comes back on again!!!

I think that if amy hadn't got pregnant she would have a normal teenager life. She would be able to do all of teh fun things that her friends are doing. She and ben would still have found each other even if amy wasn't pregnant. She probably wouldn't be friends with adrian.

She and Ben would have still found each other since they are meant to be but she and Ricky would have gone their separate ways after band camp. I don't think she and Adrian would have been friends, they are so different. Amy's relationship with her family would have been much less stressful. Her dreams have changed in the sense that now she has to put John before herself. I don't think oral sex is really sex. More like foreplay. And I think after Adrian's confession about her first time, Ricky understands her a lot better now. They should continue going to therapy together, it's really improving their relationship.
