Girl may need a vacation, but should she go to Italy with Ben? Without John?
This week on "The Secret Life of The American Teenager," Leo offers Ben a trip to Bologna to work in his uncle's hotel for the summer, partly because he thinks the boy could use some time away. But Ben sorta kinda invites Amy along, and she's super-excited about the trip. Uh, Ben's not. But don't tell Amy that. She is MOTIVATED to go.
But there's a baby to deal with. And Anne won't watch John for the summer. Ricky won't either. So what's Amy going to do? What SHOULD she do? Is that cool, trying to leave little baby John behind? Should she take him with her to Italy? What do you think?

for season 3 episode 7 i think when ben goes to bologna he meets this girl which ends up coming to his school and than he breaks up with amy bacuse he thinks things are going to work out between this girl but then she meets ricky during the school year and hooks up with him. THAN RICKY AND her have sex for an hour like the preview expains.

i also think that amy attempting to take her infant to italy is a very good example of both her immaturity and lack of parenting skills. i'm not saying she's a bad parent, but i am saying she obviously shouldn't be taking care of john without her mom and dad helping her make decisions.
i mean come on. the thought that a fifteen year old girl can take her infant across the world without a passport and without thinking about how this would endanger his health. babies have very weak immune systems. he could get sick or even stolen (which sounds strange, but it happens every day all over the world), is just showing amys immaturity at this point.
and for all of you who voted amy and ricky the best parents, ...come on. ricky maybe, but amy? i love her but she has a lot of growing up to do. and she is really lucky she has people helping her make decisions like this.
"i want my son to be a citizen of the world". whatever. you want to go to italy.
i understand amy's stressed. and i do think she needs to take some time for herself and think about things. and maybe get an attitude adjusment while she's at it. but she doesn't need to go to italy for that. she was being selfish even thinking about going to italy.
1. john is only a few months old. she can't just take him out of the country. it's dangerous.
2. no matter where she takes john, he's still gonna need a lot of attention. she'd still be stuck wherever
she's staying half the time taking care of him. it wouldn't be much of a vacation.
3. she's been a total "b-word" to ben lately. and as soon as she realizes that, she should know he deserves a vacation. alone.
4. it's rickys baby too. and she has barely let him have anything to do with john. and he's matured a lot this season, he wants to be a part of his sons life. she can't just take his baby away from him for three months.
5. i couldn't believe when she was telling her mom she was "an adult now". adults do what they have to and don't complain because adults won't get pity and usually shouldn't get pity. and adults don't take infants across the globe because 'mommy' wants to have some fun in italy.
I cant believe Amy even considered taken John out of the COUNTRY!! the baby is only a few months old. she needs to "man" up and start taken responsibility for her actions. yes she had a beautiful baby and hes a gift but she is still a mother and she needs to start thinking about John's needs before her own. all she wants is to have a good time and to go out. unfortunately having a baby means that you stay home and take care of it and work to do just that. if she is so worried about her social life she shouldnt have had sex in the first place.

Oh my god i think amys getting on everyones nerves. i thought it was just me but each episode amy gets a little more annoying! its bens family in bologna and he should go alone hes been stuck with amy for too long. hes sweet and she nott!! but ever since amy had sex with a playa (dont get me wrong i like ricky but he is a man [filtered word]) and told everyone she was preggers shes been a [filtered word]! she expects everyone to do things for her more than before. its her fault she is in over her head. my brother has a baby almost a year old and hes 17 right now and mom is 19 and that baby may have been acedentally brought into this world but he is a blessing and everyone loves him and welcomed my brother his girlfriend and their baby (my nephew) into our lives with open arms. i love my nephew and sure i was dissapointed in my brother when i found out but you cant be rude to people and expect them to just forget like amys doing to everyone in her life. my mom was mad at my brother too but we love him and his son and they love us back and if amy is to bitchy to love other people and treat them good how can she expect to be loved and treated nicely. she thought having a baby at 15 would be a breeze and everyone would take care of her child but thats not how it works honey!! and amy is acting like john is a mistake and a punishment and thats not true. my brother can do things himself sure hes a few years older but he didnt turn into a jerk when his son was born and amy has no right to either. I see a lot of "Amy+Ricky=<3"... but these 2 don't even know eachother...??? Baby = both parents love the baby, not eachother. That just isn't how life works, guys. When 2 people are in love and they PLAN a baby together, it's because they love eachother... but when 2 people "hook up" 1 time, and then have a unplanned baby, it isn't likely that they will so happen to fall in love. Anyway, sleeping with someone you barely know isn't usually how you start a relationship. It shows a lack of repect for eachother, and it shows that they don't care to know eachother... so that doesn't exactly translate into love.
Amy and Ben's relationship has become very unhealthy. She's become a little verbally abusive to him, and he's getting tired of it. If they do stay together, the time apart from eachother would help them.
This is exactly why teen girls really need to be careful and if they do choose to have sex, be sure to use protection. A few are good mothers, yes, but most are a little neglectful and too immature and selfish to care for another human being. Ricky is stepping up to the plate to be a parent, Amy isn't. It's disgusting that a mother of a baby only a few months old is looking to escape from him. Honestly, Amy doesn't need a boyfriend right now, she can't handle one. She needs to focus on becoming a little more mature and thoughtful of others, so she can be a decent mother. Ricky is doing well, and I hope he is serious about making things more solid with Adrian. Ben may stray and his relationship with Amy may end, but I think she has been pushing him away for some time now. She doesn't seem to grasp that Ben doesn't owe her anything and that all he's done for her, was out of the kindness of his heart, not obligation. This is HIS trip, and HE should enjoy it alone.

Amy does not need to go with Ben to Bologna!!!!She has a responsibility to baby John!I know that he was not a planned child but whenever you want to go somewhere without the baby, he is yours and wherever Amy goes John should go. Amy cannot just pass the baby over to ricky or who ever she can find.The only reason that she wants to go to Bologna with Ben is so he doesn't have sex with another girl. She must truly love him if she wants to protect him.Back to the real question, Amy really shouldn't go to bologna with Ben!!!!!!!

I don't think Amy will be going. Sooner or later, she's going to find out that Ben doesn't really want her to go. Not that it matters, she's so pushy, she'll probably go by herself and stay in the hotel next door, lol. Leaving John would be a big mistake. A newborn child needs it's mother and she's not going to want to miss any part of him growing up. Plus, no one is going to put up with her sh*t and just take John for the summer. Taking John with her would be a bigger mistake, I think. She complains that he'll get sick if they go out to dinner, but then practically the next day she wants to leave the country with him. Plus, no one will be there to help her with John but Ben, and even if he offered, she's stubborn and says that Ben "can't handle" John, and won't let anyone help. Then, even though she refuses help, she'll whine and complain that she has to do it herself. She's not going to be able to leave the hotel room with a baby very much either. And Ben isn't going to take care of him so she can go canoodling around the city. He has to WORK. He won't be with her. Besides, I doubt that Ben's relatives are thrilled about this. They offered HIM a job and expect him to work, and he brings his b*tch girlfriend and her son along and makes a vacation out of it? I'm sick of Amy complaining that she needs a vacation. She's only had the baby for a month, and she wants to get away from him, and she says she "loves" him. Bullsh*t, if you loved him, you would WANT him to be safe at home, and you'd want to stay with him. If she didn't like responsibility, she should have thought about that before she got knocked up. And the stupidest thing of all is she thinks she's an adult, yet she can't even handle a month with a newborn baby. Plus, she fails to realize how lucky she is that she has a boyfriend AND a father for her baby, plus her mom didn't kick her out of the house. And she still treats her family and boyfriend like sh*t, and doesn't appreciate her job. Well, here's some news. You're going to be having a job for pretty much the rest of your life. And you're going to have John to take care of for at least 18 more years. Lose the attitude, because if you don't, eventually someone is going to call you out on it, and you're NOT going to like it.

Ben needs to take this trip on his own! He needs a break from Amy to discover if he really does want to spend the rest of his life with her! I dont like the fact that SHE made the decision to keep the baby, and now she wants to give him up for the whole summer. She needs to stop being the spoiled brat that she is and always will be. She hasn't changed since she had John, not even close. I think Ricky would do a better job raising John by himself then with Amy, she doesn't even want him driving John anywhere. If she wanted a 3 month break from John, she should have given him up. I don't think she should go to Italy. Her and Ben need to break up so he can live his life without being talked to like a 5 year old by Amy.

i being a 18year old with a 3 year old i know how it feels to be overwhelmed with a baby in highschool and needing a break. you cant just take off and leave your child with someone else,its not their responsabilty, if you made that descion to lay down and have sex, and made the decsion to keep the baby, grow up and deal with it handle your responsibilty...
I agree with that. I had my daughter when I was 15 and I would never be away from her for a week better yet a month. Baby John is only a few months old if that and he needs his mama and daddy more than anyone. So I think amy shouldnt go, and if she feels that she had to go she should take John with her and maybe ask ricky to go too so that john will still have both his parents there and amy will still get a lil vacation away from somethings. But she still has to take care of John and she will really for the rest of his life!

What I think is that she should NOT go. She is a mother and yes she is tired, but that's life deal with it. Also new mothers are usually very attached to their children and Amy just wants to leave him for a month- that's what I don't get. Amy used to be my favorite character but this season I am not really liking her.

i think that amy should not go to italy. amy going to italy will totally ruin ben and amys relationship! ben and amy will get tired of each other and will end up getting on each others nerves, which will escilate to a huge breakup! also, if amy leaves, she will be leaving john alone with ricky. not saying thats a bad thing to leave jhon with ricky, but john is amys responsibilty too! she needs to mother up and realize, i have a child now, and need to do her part!

if Ben was having second thoughts about inviting Amy, he shouldn't have. I think they might run into fighting becasue they're really only going to have eachother in Italy and they have been fighting so much, the tension is just going to get stronger. I don't think Amy is taking that into consideration. a few weeks is a long time to be with someone you aren't really loving at the moment.
