Take a couple tips from Ashley and put a little punk in your look.

India Eisley, aka li'l sis Ashley Juergens on "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," gets tons of flak for the way she dresses on the show -- and no wonder, because it's always provocative and rebellious. Remember that short black minidress with a sweater (casually falling off her shoulders) that she's wearing in the gas station at the beginning of Episode 3? Or the midriff-baring tee, complete with tons of colorful bracelets, at the beginning of Episode 1?

Though Ashley's on-screen style may be way too tease-like for a 13-year-old, we love how she mixes up punk and goth elements. One of her trademark looks is the smoky eye, which she (smartly) pairs with nude lips.

Here's how you can get that look for a big night out: Prep your lids first with a light base color (we like a shimmery champagne shade). Then line along top and bottom lashes with a black or dark gray eye pencil, drawing the line thicker in the middle of the eye. Using an eyeshadow brush, blend in a dark color (like dark gray or purple), starting at the lash line and working upward for the "smoky" effect. Top off your look with a couple of coats of nude lip gloss.

And if you're looking for a way to put a bit of punk into your everyday outfit, try hitting up your local vintage store for old rock-band tees or edgy vintage chokers. Studded bracelets also add insta-cool to any outfit. Even though Ashley cleans up her look once she figures out that Amy's pregnant, she still manages to work an effortlessly cool rock 'n' roll vibe into her style.
