Sending Ben away, giving Ricky a free place ... does he have a plan?
Leo Boykewich, Ben's dad, has been very active lately on "The Secret Life of The American Teenager." Let's review:
1. He's offered to send Ben off to Italy for the summer.
2. He's given Ricky a free place so he can live on his own.
3. He's proposed marriage to Betty.
So what's going on? Is he just being super-nice, or does he have a strategy? Is he using his money and other resources to influence everyone's lives?
Consider: If Ben goes away for the summer -- especially to Bologna, a city everyone seems to think is all about sex -- the boy might get Amy off his mind. (Remember that time last season when Leo wouldn't let Amy in to see Ben?) And also, if Ricky has his own place, who knows what might happen between him and ... Amy? (At least, that's what Adrian's afraid of. Well, Amy or whoever ... .)
OK, so if Leo's such a mastermind, how come he's the only guy in town who still thinks Betty's a court reporter? What do you think? Does the Sausage King have a master plan, or is he just being randomly nice to everyone? Discuss!

I think he wants whats best for Ben . And at that exact moment he wants Amy off of ben's mind. So thats the reason he gave the ticket to ben to go to italy.

K well Betty was telling Ben if he plans to hav sex in bolonia to get some new condems... well leo borrowed a condem from Ben. Betty is pregnant! That is why leo proposed and why leo is sending Ben to bolonia so that he will hav time to figure things out! Is Adrians Mom Pregnant?
gosh, i never thought leo would have some sneaky plan but after reading all this, i think it may be true. i dont think it is a devious plan, but i think he may just want Ricky and Amy together cuz it is their baby and i think Leo thinks that Ben shouldn't be with Amy, even tho he seemed supportive in the first season. i also thinks that he knows that Betty was a hooker, but just thinks she is changing for the better, so he doesnt want to bring up her past to her. he is a nicee guy and is only trying to help his son. but i dont see why Ben still puts up with Amy and all the attitude she gives, even tho i understand where the attitude is coming from. and leo gave ben the choice to go to Italy, he did not force him to. so maybe ben would also like a break from amy and think things thru and see if he still loves amy or not.

You know, I've always found Leo the hardest character to read. Maybe he is making a plan because he thinks his son shouldn't be with Amy because he sees the way Ricky talks about and looks at her ? Or maybe hes trying to get Ben to leave so that Ricky can have more hours to work to support John ? We'll see.

does leo have a big plan? i'm not sure. most likely. but i wouldn't know the details.
but i am pretty sure he doesn't want ben and amy together anymore. ben may still be in love with amy, (real love or puppy love, we don't know) but he's just not happy being with her right now. and i can't see how anyone could be. ben's a nice guy, and he deserves better. so he should take a break, maybe even expiriment with other girls. and maybe, after amy cools over they'll get back together.
amy's being "the b-word". ben is trying so hard to help her. he really likes her and wants so badly to be a part of her life, and her sons. which i can imagine, would be something a teen mom would have a hard time finding. and she won't let him. ricky wants to help too and she won't let him either. but then after she rejects everyones help, she turns around and whines and complains about how hard things are for her. she's being a drama mom. and i have a feeling in one of the next episodes someone's going to give her a huge attitude adjustment.
i also hate this shows theme song. just throwing that out there.
Honestly I think Leo is just trying to reward Ricky for his hard work in the shop as well as helping out with the baby and at the same time he's allowing Ricky to be more of a dad to his son since now Ricky will be able to spend alone time with John. I just wish Amy would back off a bit and let Ricky help her out more. She is being so controlling. I think it's a good thing Ben is going away for the summer that way Amy and Ricky will be able to care for John without seeing how jealous Ben is. Ben is too naive and he needs to back off and let Ricky be a father. I love seeing how much Ricky's character has evolved this season he has matured and I like him a lot better than Ben.

has anyone thought this might be bens last episode? hes magically goin away for the summer, and hes supposidly coming back, but this is usually how they get someone off the show other than dying. ben and amy have been arguing and the person that plays ben is goin to star in a different show this fall, so unfortunately this may be his last episode. I think Leo is terminally ill...He doesn't want Ben to be there when he dies, and he wants everything in order before he goes...He wants to provide for as many people as possible, so he randomly picked Betty to have his money and Ricky to have the apartment...I think he doesn't know how to deal with his illness correctly.
hahaa, i lovee your reasoning. lol. thats outside the box. but of course, anything is possible. but that would suck for ben if his father dies too. but that would be a crazy twist to the plot. lol.

Ok... I highly doubt that Leo is deathly ill. I don't think they would kill off Leo and leave Ben with his new stepmother. And I doubt the show is going to deal with death again because it would just be the sadness in the show as in the beginning and I don't think they want to make it seem like they're going to kill off everyone's parents.

Not necessarily because they have John, but because they are freakin' perfect together!! 
lol. And i think he's trying to hook them up because Leo noticed how trapped Ben is, you know; Ben said he HAD to invite Amy to Italy (Even though everyone knows he wants to go alone.) It'll probably turn out that he knows Ben's in too deep with Amy, that's why he tries to keep the apart when they fight. (Like last season.)

Ben is just an obsticle in Amy an Ricky's lives. I think they should be together. it's healthier for Jon, yknow? And i think Leo knows this. i think amy and ricky r going to get together and Adrian is going to find some one else and ben is going to be in italy. Amy + Ricky=Forever
I think Leo wants to try to take Ben away from Amy I think he doesn't want Ben to be with her so he is sending him to Bolonia (sorry about spelling if it's wrong!) for the summer to see other options.

i think that bens dad wants to split amy and ben up. i think he wants ricky to be with amy because their the ones who had the baby together and there always going to be connected bc of the baby. by giving ricky an apartment, it gives amy to be there alone..and adrian i guess haha. and then ben going to italy, he will be able to expierence things that horny teenage boy craves...and thats [filtered word] and other things. we all know amy wont go to italy..there wouldnt be a next episode if her, john, and ben went to italy! bc they would be together! unless amy or john gets kidnapped but its an abc family show, not some CSI stuff haha

after reading this i think leo is up to something. i no hes a great guy but he probualy doesnt want his son with amy, because he wants his son happy and ben doesnt act to happy about amy but he just says he loves her but i dont think he really means it and i think leo is catching along.......TEAM RICKY!!!

Leo is a nice guy but him giving Ricky the place for free seems a little odd and Leo sending Ben away for the summer is probably just so Ben has the chance to think where he is pretty much alone and can't have Amy or Ricky or anybody telling him what to do or what he should do its some what smart and I don't think Amy is stupid enough to be with Ricky alone after having John and the pain she went through.Leo is just trying to teach Ricky responsibilities and giving Ben the chance to go to Italy.

Leo may have a plan but he is a great guy seems to be the only adult on the show who cares about his child everyone is so self obsorbed. I think he wants to get Ben to depend on himself more and not just expect dad to do it for him just because they have money he wants his son to get some balls or he will never be able to run the family business or any other business for that matter Amy has him totaly [filtered word] wiped and they havent even had sex. As far as giving Ricky the appartment I think he said he was thinking about showing it to him in a few years simply because he didnt think he would be ready so soon. He has grown up so much this season I really like who he is turning into unlike Amy and her mom Ann. They are both so me me me its all about me and wine wine wine well Amy you decided to be a 15 year old mom so face facts its not easy. she didnt have to keep the baby. As far as Amy and Ricky getting together its not always best for a child for mom and dad to be together if they arent in love. And I think Ricky can do so much better Amy and Ben could both take some lessons from him. "Ben will pay for us to go" well I think it would be Leo and no way is he going to do that not because he dosnt like Amy but because he is trying to teach Ben being a parent and having a family *Amy and John* comes with hard work and you cant rely on daddy to pay the bills. Ricky relises that. As far as Betty are we sure he dosn't know she is a hooker maybe they are just telling Ben she is a court reporter to protect him. One last thought Adrian has grown too she is very slef obsorbed but not like Amy and she has been resposable about sex. up untill this season she didnt even know who her father was and she had a mom who is gone more than she is around and she brings in boy friend after boy friend Adrian just wants to be loved and she is very insicure that Ricky will do the resposable thing and choose Amy and John over her can you blame her for being insicure? I don't.

I think he was being nice given Ricky the free place, but I don't know about the sending Ben to Italy for the summer part. He might have a plan there.
P.S. Did anyone notice the fact that Leo said to Ricky that he was planning on showing Ricky that free place in like 3 years, instead of now. I find that I little insulting for Ricky. It's like he was saying "I knew you weren't going to be able to take care of yourself in a couple of years and I figured I could give you this apartment, because I knew you wouldn't be able to do it on your own or a least it would be hard." I know he was just trying to help but it seemed like a good thing but at the same time an insulting comment too.

Leo is really smart and I think he is totally up to something. Something BIG! I think he is sending Ben to the Italy for some people skills and to get out of his usual routines in his everyday life. I also think he is only trying to help Betty become unhitched with her soon-to-be-ex husband, I don't think he could ever be in love with that hooker. Finally, I think he gave Ricky the place above the butcher shop because he is a nice kid with a new son and he really needs his help. I also think he gave him a place to help John's life be a little better than it might be if Ricky didn't have his own place.

I think Leo want Amy and Ricky together so the drama doesn't get to his son and he might want to get married with out ben
k i honestly think that he just wants ben to go to italy to be away and clear his head he;s only 15 he shouldnt be this involved with amy or any girl for that matter! she's his first girlfriend and its ridiculous he wants to marry! so i think its good he;s going away maybe now he will forget amy and she'll forget him and amy and ricky can be together

I pretty much agree with everyone else who said that Leo doesn't want Ben and Amy to be a couple anymore. Everyone can see that they don't act like a real couple should (they argue nonstop and they rarely say "I love you", something that used to be a regular act). I think Leo is realizing this.
His plan might be to give Amy and Ricky more time together. After all, it would be best for John if his parents got along really well and bonded, or even if they get together, which would be the best possible scenario for John.
I admit that at the beginning of the shows airing, I didn't really like Ricky. But after the baby came, Ricky has totally changed for the better. He is so much more responsible and a lot nicer to everyone. Does anyone agree?
i think that Leo is just trying to be nice when he gave ricky the place to live. but idk about sending ben off...it's like he doesnt want ben around ricky and amy for the summer...but idk?

I think Leo is trying to make good for everybody. I think he wants Ben to go to Italy so that he can be away from the stresses of Amy and John and Ricky and that whole situation so that he can clear his mind and focus more on what Ben wants. He wants what's best for his son and right now being with Amy isn't really the best thing for Ben. He wants to see his son have a little fun, but also learn to take on some responsibilities. I do believe he was just trying to be generous to Ricky by giving him the apartment above the butcher shop, but I also believe that he did that not only out of generosity, but because this will give Ricky some time to get himself together and to be alone with Amy so that she can depend more on Ricky than Ben. I think he gave Ricky that apartment for both Ricky's benefit and Ben's. When it comes to Betty, I don't think that Leo is stupid. I think he knows that there's something going on with her that may not be a good thing, but he cares so much for Betty that he's willing to look past that. You'll see that Leo will probably end up saying that we all have problems or we all have a skeleton or two in our closet, but that doesn't necessarily mean that we're a bad person. There's always something good that comes out of something bad and Leo looks past the negative stuff and lives his life by focusing on the positive stuff. No matter who they are.
i think he is planing something. i dont no wat yet but its gonna be good.

hey i think that cause bens dad leo wants him to go to italy and so i think he gave ricky that place so that when ben is in italy he could no if amy has been going up with ricky so leo could tell ben when he gets back and so ben will no if she does anything. and if thats it... i think she will do something with ricky and ben will break up with her and ricky and amy will get together. whos with me?????

did it ever occur to all you "team whoever" people that leo is just trying help his son gain some life experience? (and by life experience i don't mean going to bologna to get laid or blown by a stranger) ben lost his mom and he attached himself to amy, the very 1st girl to really pay attention to him and the 1st girl he fell in love with. he is all about her and right now she is not all about him. he needs time and space to grow and discover who he is without all the personal drama amy is dealing with. leo isn't out to break up any and ben. he can see that amy is pushing ben away, whether she realizes it or not and that ben is suffering because of it. leo's the only parent on the show that has himself put together enough to make decisions and not have to worry about the consequences. he's a smart guy, have some faith in him people! and furthermore, he offered ricky the apartment to be helpful and nice. does there really have to be an ulterior motive? no, there doesn't. as far as the betty situation goes, love is blind. who cares if she's a hooker?! leo doesn't and that's all that should matter.
