we're doing something different
EH I don't know
Posted Mon, 11/03/2008 - 16:42 — jthompson6I Love the 25 days of Christmas on ABC family and look forward to it all year. But you know year after year I see the actual Christmas getting taken out of it, there are more and more non christmas movies added every year and less and less christmas classics. I love the movies Cars, Narnia and Harry Potter but what exactly do they have to do with Christmas. Is it suppose to be some kind of gift? Because I own 2 of those movies as I am sure 90% of families do and I can just pop the DVD in and watch it in HD and without commercials. Point of the story is come on if your going to advertise 25 days of Christmas then dog on it play christmas specials!!!!!!!!!

I recently read an article in the newspaper how all the "old claymation" movies are a tradition passed down from grandparents to their grandchildren. It is a family bonding event that no other movies these days can compare to. So for ABC to advertise 25 days of CHRISTMAS and not show anything but everyday movies that are seen all year long, is such a slap in the face for FAMILIES. If they didnt have enough programing to cover the 25 days, then they should have saved the "count down til" shows for the 25 days. And played regular reruns like full house, family matters 7th heaven and so on. They should just scrap the whole 25 days thing. I have seen better holiday movies on F/X and Lifetime! And yes were is our RAAAAALLLLPPPPHHHHHIIIIIEEEEE? Guess I have to go out and buy it. I am so glad I pay for these extended cable channels
I agree with all the comments. I come looking for the traditional stuff. I don't want to see the new movies or Harry Potter. I wanted to see the Little DRummer boy, Nester, etc. I will probably watch my own movies and not bother to watch the stations at all.
E-mailing doesn't seem to help. Customer relations don't seem to matter much to any businesses now ... I for one am very disappointed this year.

I don't have a problem with a few non-Christmas movies.
I think complaining about a few non-Christmas movies in multiple threads is a mistake. It can create a backlash and ABC Family could change it to a "Holiday Event" the way Hallmarkchannel has done. Or even worse "Fa la la" as Lifetime chose. Or worst of all, NO EVENT.
You can catch more flies with honey than vinegar. Instead of complaining, SUGGEST other movies. (If they're original movies from other stations, I doubt you'll see them here, but give it a go.)
THANK ABC Family for their spending time and money on this programming. I certainly appreciate this event.

Im really upset about the line up where is Nester? that has been one of my favorites since i was really little and the rest of the frosty's?
I love the 1-2 punch of "The Incredibles" AND "CARS" on Christmas Day. Nothing says Christmas quite like a superhero family movie. Uh, right.
I'm all about the 24 hour marathon of "A Christmas Story" EVERY year! And where is "It's A Wonderful Life?" Is it just shown once a year on NBC now?
On another note-you gotta love the Hallmark Channel.
i agree also i thought maybe it was something i didn't get, but the truth is they are advertising to play christmas movies and sometimes it's something else harry potter weekend is not good for this time of year and the other person is right hallmark plays very good christmas movies as well.

I think they show The Christmas list movie on the Lifetime channel.I know they show Borrowed hearts on there. You can see Christmas movies on the Hallmark channel too but they shouldn't show Harry Potter just because there is a Christmas sence in it.
I agree with everyone on here! I too own all the Harry Potter movies, so why would I want to watch them on ABC Family during Christmas when they're much longer when I can just watch the DVD? And also, what do they have to do with Christmas exactly? I know they have a Christmas "scene" in almost every one, but still they're not the normal "Christmassy" movies. I would much rather watch The Christmas List, Three Days, Borrowed Hearts, and Christmas Everyday over non-Christmas movies. And as for contacting ABC Family, I was just thinking of contacting them so I too would like to know how to get through to them!
Why is the 25 days of Christmas starting November 16th? It's normally Dec 1-25 which makes alot more sense to me.

I completely agreee with you on every level! I feel like they won't even be able to call it this in a couple of years because of the non-holday programming. I realize that these movies probably bring in the ratings, but they aren't really staying true to the whole block. They can play these any time of the year and if they must play them during the 25 Days of Christmas, they could play them once, but not two or three times like is becoming the trend. I even e-mailed them about this, but I didn't get a reply. Hopefully they will play more Christmas programming and less of the other stuff because my family and I truly enjoy being able to know where we can find a good Christmas special when we want to watch one! Any ideas of how we can get through to them?
