we're doing something different
Hopefully they bring back the old favorites...
Posted Mon, 10/06/2008 - 08:46 — PrincessMe23I have noticed everytime I turn on the t.v. it's some new show and no one is ever running the old favorites anymore. I really hope they play Christmas everyday and the Christmas List and To grandmothers house we go and a very brady christmas and all the old christmas classics of course frosty the snowman and rudolph. I loved the family channel growing up, it made every holiday so fun and tradition to watch the 25 nights of christmas at home by the tree.. I just want my kids to be able to do the same but the movies and shows they have on these days, I would rather them seeing the old shows I use to watch that make it magical.

bah humbug to all those that do not like all the sappy happy with good ending movies- sometime it is a feel good movies that make people feel good and perhaps even wish that they could be so lucky as to have anything remotely close happen to them. Movies like Borrowed hearts, three days, wish list etc.. Are all just simply feel good and they give some of us hope.. The holidays are about giving- which we should all be doing to help out our fellow mankind - don't you remember the good days when anything was possible? I personally still believe in the fairy tales and pray for the day they come true- but everyday I wake up with hope; I see love, I want love; that may be pretty high standards to a lot of people but right or wrong I still believe- isn't that what is most refreshing to share with our children. Why must so many of you insist on taking Joy away from the kids that believe the most.. Believing is a gift that our children show us everyday- there is not proof but the belief is still there- why take that away - because we are older and have been so disappointed that we must make our kids realize that! why not- let them believe- what is the harm is that- why not give yourself something to look forward to.. isn't that the holiday magic?
I think we have all forgotten the magic that the holidays bring- it isn't the gifts that they get - It is the spirit which it is given and the joy of the birth of our savior. Presents- are objects we brought on- read the book and realize that isn't the gift god intended but the love and giving of thyself is the magic that surrounds the holidays that make them so special.
just smile and let go of the bah humbug attitude. Say thank you instead and then do something nice for someone- that is the real reward and those shows/movies show us all that we could do a lot more of that- especially today- everyone is so busy working to get ahead that we forget to live and enjoy the moments right now..
I have tried to remember the name of a particular movie "Best Christmas Pageant Ever" for several years. I really miss it among others!
LaQuetia
I really miss the classic christmas movies also.
The movies listed for Christmas day have nothing to do with Christmas. That says something.
Mickeys Christmas Carol!!!
I would love to see the Best Christmas Pageant Ever with Loretta Swift it is a great christmas movie and how about The Christmas Shoes with Rob Lowe it is a great movie as well definitely not an old one like the Best Christmas Pageant Ever that many of us watched in school as a kid, where the children in the end learn a lesson as well as the adults!

it drives me insane because they get you to love a movie or its a classic and everyone loves it but they stop playing it. i use to watch 25 days of Christmas every year and now i don't want to watch most of the movies on.
I wish Christmas in Boston was on more than once...
I wish they could put it out on dvd! Does anyone know how ABC Family decides which of their original movies get out on Dvd? I have enjoyed alot of their romantic comedies..but only a few "Everything you want" and "A Boyfriend for Christmas" have been released that I enjoyed. ..

Oh the old days! I remember when it was nothing but movies like the Christmas List, Three Days, Christmas Everyday, Borrowed Hearts, Christmas in Boston, and all the Rankin and Bass classics but NOTHING like Harry Potter, Mary Poppins, Cars, and the Incredibles was on! It was just Christmas movies all through December. And I can definitely agree with the fact that once the station changed from Fox Family to ABC Family, the 25 Days of Christmas lost its charm! I know there are so many people that want the oldies back, and honestly I don't think anyone is going to watch Harry Potter or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory since they're on too much anyways! Time to change it back to the classics ABC!
Does anyone remember the Christmas movie " It came upon the midnight clear" starring Mickey Rooney? I would Love it if they showed this one as I haven't seen this one on TV in years and can't seem to find it on DVD anywhere. It was one the of Best Christmas movies.
I am totally in agreement I never understood the Harry Potter at Christmas. The Christmas List is one of my all time favorites! Does anyone know why the Countdown to the 25 Days of Christmas [filtered word] to see what movies are coming on then? My page just says page not found.
I wish someone one important on ABC family would read these boards and realize what thier faithful viewers want!!! Its ridiculous last year I almost got to the point were I wansn't going to watch ABC 25 days of christmas anymore, because everytime I turned it on to watch a christmas show with my family Harry Potter was on, now I like this movie but really how many families Don't have this on DVD, I bet not too many. SO why would we be anxious to watch it on 25 days of Christmas WITH commercials come on now if any of you ABC decision makers are reading these boards WAKE UP and please your viewers.
If you can't find what you want on ABC The hallmark channel plays ALOT of the good oldies and even some new ones, all December long they have Christmas movies on all night, that is what I switched to when ABC was playing non Christmas movies.

Most of the good Christmas movies the they played you cant even find on dvd!
I'd like ABC Family to play Once and Twice Upon A Christmas again this year. Those movies are the best!

I enjoyed the movie "Special Delivery" with Andy [filtered word]. It was hilarious; I wish ABC would replay this movie
I like Harry Potter but abc family shouldn't show it at Christmas time and they do need to bring back the Christmas classic movies.
yeah! I agree. I wish they would show some more of the movies that actually have christmas meaning to them (as you guys said above) lol. Instead of like Harry potter, and cars etc.
I would like to know who the brainiac is that picks these shows for the holidays. Harry Potter? Cars? The Fantastics? As good as these movies are, we can see them anytime. During the holidays, we want to see movies that we can't see any other of the year. Does anyone at ABC Family read these comments? The Christmas List is one of the best Holiday movies, why are they not showing it?
Does anyone know the movie with a child santa claus? There was a fairy or elf that took him in and he grew up to give out toys to the children. I havent seen it on recently...
Its like a life story.

I know what you mean. I get sick of Harry Potter, what does that
have to do with Christmas? How about "Jack Frost" (the movie about
a boys Dad that comes to live through the snowman they made)
"Santa Clause Is Coming To Town", "A Very Brady Christmas" as you mentioned.
"The Christmas List", "Three Days", "Home For Christmas", "Borrowed
Hearts", Those are classics, not to mention "A Christmas Carole"
Why do we need to Watch Harry Potter, when we can see him any time?
How about "The Polar Express"? Can you tell I love this time of year?
Sitting by the tree, munching on popcorn, and watching ABC Family.
I agree with you i have been watching the 25 days of Christmas since i was a wee kid and i miss the oldies! wish they would play them instead of the new ones they keep coming out with!
Don't forget Santa and the Three Bears! I loved that movie and it's never on anymore.
