we're doing something different
Why is this ok?
Posted Wed, 07/22/2009 - 18:04 — dreded_emI was watching AFV with my daughter, she's 4, and we saw a preview for LP. I was struck by something that's under my skin now. Why is this ok??? Anyone else miffed about this? As a guy, I know a 'friend' who fell for the 'don't dump me... I'm pregnant' for about 4 months. He stayed part of her life until he asked her why she wasn't showing. She said she had miscarried a couple of months earlier. NUCLEAR explosion time... families hating families! I've actually never posted on anything but rock climbing and local blogs, but I don't want my daughter to EVER feel like this would be ok. Any thoughts?

There are a lot of things on tv that your daughter could see that are obviously not okay. She'll hopefully develope the skills to recognize when it's not.
It's not okay before marriage but sadly it's how the world is becoming. Everyone is starting to thing its just how life is supposed to be. I think they think they are teaching you NOT to do it but like you said a 4 year old really won't get that concept, and even 16 years old don't get it.
I know what you mean but it's different for me since I can watch it and get the fun out of it cuz i know I would never do something like that but it took me 18 years to understand that.
I just say keep her away from it as long as you can, it'll sadly get worse as time goes on. Just teach her the way you feel is right, and hopefully she'll listen to you and not tv shows/ movies.
Good Luck!
