we're doing something different
DVDs?
Posted Mon, 09/15/2008 - 14:45 — psac42Any idea as to when they might become available? I've been searching Amazon every day hoping for a pre-order notice.
Hopefully the searches on Amazon help prod for it...
Oh, and order a tee shirt or two, as well. We did, hopefully that will let the powers that be know there is interest!

I was really hoping that they would release the DVD by Christmas so that I could give it as a gift and also recieve it! I really hope they bring the show back, my husband and I looked forward to watching it every week.
The only reason why I want an iPod in the first place so that I can watch the Middleman any time I want, unlike on this website where the videos "take breaks".
I believe that the DVDs were going to include things that have already been recorded, such as the Javi-Casts and the Table Readings. If they haven't already been completed, then Javi and his cast and crew are probably currently doing audio commentaries for the episodes, to go over cultural references, etc. I don't believe that this is being considered, but you would have to expect an added delay if a special Middleman mini-comic book were to be included in the DVD release, since it would obviously have to be produced and then printed prior to the DVDs(/Blu-rays?) being pressed.
Some people dream in black-and-white,
And others dream in color.
But when I see you in my sleep,
My dreams are sweet-and-sour.
The question is WHEN well they be available, so we can all buy them to get the show back.
No joke techhead. I'm so ready for these Dvds, oh man. I've missed The MM. We gotta get it back everyone. We gotta like..make sure those Dvds are sold out. That'll show 'em!
How many people are registered on TV Shows on DVD? If a bunch of us use that site to let the studio know we'd like the DVDs, that might help. Every little bit counts, right?
Javi already said there WERE going to be DVD's. Someone else in this forum close to the production confirmed the materials were just about ready. It's all a matter of when ABC Family decides to put out the Box Set now.
No more monologuing, or I'll Swiss-cheese you on principle.
I don't even care if there are any extras, although I like the comic book idea as well as the extras explaining the cultural references. I know that the DVDs would sell well, especially since there aren't any reruns being shown. Maybe a certain number of DVDs could be released without extras just to see what the demand would be.
There is something to be said about extras adding to the entire Middleman experience. For example, if you hunt around for The Middlecast that Javi participated in, you can learn about a deleted scene from the fourth episode, The Manicoid Teleportation Conundrum, that is at once sweet (a 10-year-old Wendy and her father are in Peter's DC-3, which he's teaching her how to fly) and disturbing (the way the scene ends). If you recall, this is the episode that features a gun-toting, Manicoid-hunting TV shrink that was doing a quick bit of psychoanalysis on Wendy, which brought out some tears due to her abandonment issues with her father.
As I said, I don't believe that anyone is planning on including a mini-comic book in the DVD packaging, although, it would be a nice way to really go full circle with The Middleman: From a spec script that failed to generate a TV pilot, to a series of comic books, then to our beloved 12-episode run here on ABC Family, and finally to a comic book story with likenesses of Natalie and Matt. Although, since there already are comic book versions of Em-Em (blond-haired) and Dub-Dub (redheaded), if there were to be a comic with Natalie and Matt, I'd really love to see it done fumetti-style. For those who don't know, fumetti comic books use photographs for the panel art, instead of the typical line-art drawings. And if not a printed fumetti comic book, I'd really hope that the show gets renewed or finds another home, and instead of doing the typical video extras found on TV network websites (webisodes), that they would do a weekly fumetti series, either as a comic strip or a full-blown, season-long storyline.
Give us more Middleman, but most of all, give us some Middleman Fumetti!

I want Dvds too, but no word yet. I mean the show did just end about a month ago, so Dvds are probably still in the early stages[like deciding to have them or not =/]. As for purchasing a T-Shirt or two...I did purchase a Tee and a comic, but for some reason my order got like...rerouted and all this stuff. I'm going to stick it out and not grow a fatlip. I'll wait for as long I need to for my MM Middledise!
Art Crawl! lol
I'm confident that the DVDs will come out soon, we just need to keep the fourms active, and my Wiki can serve as the largest Middleman fansite in the Middleverse, I check it is almost the ONLY fansite committed to the Middleman. So please check it out, we can figure out how to unite and fight evil and buy DVDs.
