Finale Thoughts
Posted Mon, 09/01/2008 - 19:25 — syxxgageSo we've just seen the season finale of the Middleman. What did everyone think? If the series were not to be picked up for another series, would this episode make a satisfying series finale? Although there are many questions left unanswered in the Middleman, I feel that should the series not continue, it ended on a high note with all the characters looking forward to a bright future.
I personally loved this episode. The Escape from New York references were great. Seriously, who knew Matt Keeslar was so ripped. Seeing an evil Wendy was awesome. It really showed another dimension to her acting abilities. Noser with a bad attitude and slicked back hair? Not something I expected to see, nor was Father Pip. Lacey becoming the alternate universe Middleman in training was cool idea. At least we know that somewhere out there MM and Lacey get together.
All in all, it's a wonderful episode. I really hope that ABC Family listens to the fans and gives us another season of MM and WW's adventures. I just couldn't stand to see such an awesome show not continue.

I wonder if Tyler ends up killing Wendy. Think about it, in the mirror universe: Wendy (working for Fatboy industries) kills Tyler (apprentice to the middleman). It's the opposite in the normal universe. Also, Wendy says she can't see how it ends, but what if that's because she's killed?
[or is it because it lasts forever? =) ]
The Palindrome Reversal Plaindrome was a good season finale, but not a good series finale. So many questions were left unanswered. Why is the Middleman against swearing? Will Wendy stay with Tyler? Will the Middleman's relationship with Lacey be taken to the next level? Will Wendy fall in love with the Middleman, or would it be more like the way she put it in the episode with the nanobots? Will Lacey find out the truth about the Middleman agency (same for Wendy figuring out Fatboy)? Important questions!
im a big fan of this show and was thoroughly impressed with the shower scene. natalie has a lot of appeal. both mental and physical. i was surprised when she was shown with the bare requirements
to keep this show from being mature rated. i would like to see more of her . WOW. what a body!!!!!!!
Here's what I have to say about the episode: Mainly, Manservant Neville and Tyler were good in the alternate world, meaning that they must be evil in the real world, right? Hopefully, there is another season to answer this question!

This was a great episode, and I'm glad it ended on a high note. It continued to show how smart it can be with the pop culture references and the amusing twists - finally, TV that actually makes you think a little bit, and laugh a lot! It's all too rare. I really loved the alternate universe also, especially the opportunity to see the actors play some different sides.
But, I can't say it's a good enough ending. Why? Because, I just want more! All too often, the major networks drop a great show because it doesn't produce the numbers immediately. But I know this one is a sleeper hit - heck, I didn't even know about it until the sixth episode, but I was spellbound immediately, and liked it more with each episode. So, I think we need at least another season, or six, before I can say they had a good series finale. It was, however, a wonderful season finale!!
There has been so many smart shows that disappear, I really hope MiddleMan keeps going. I love the show, such clever writing. Heck, I love MIB and this is right along the same line. You have to know this was my type of show, I even drive a Middle Car just like Wendy. Keep the series going!
This is the first show I watched every episode of. (Partly thanks to TIVO) I would be devastated if this was it. Middleman has the making of a cult classic. (Did someone mention Cheers?) I swear if they take this witty, fantastic show of the air I'll be depressed! I vote for more!!!!!! And also, go Matt K. for your ripped body!

Middleman has to be the best under-the-radar show on television. It's been a long time(Cheers, maybe) that a series made me laugh out loud so much. If the series isn't renewed, well, I've seen every episode and I'll have the collection on DVD to watch over again. It's great to know that somewhere the Middleman and Lacey are together.
The Middleman is one of the smartest, best written shows on the tube!
dougie
Worst show ever. I hope they take it off the air.
if you dont like the show then dont watch it. watch something else.
If the mirror universe had all the mirror versions of the characters why was Tyler the only on still good. Does that mean that the Tyler Wendy is dating is really evil?
I moo; therefore I am.
I am hoping Javi will allow Tyler to drift a bit into the murky waters of situational ethics, but not actually go bad. Maybe he can be influenced by FatBoy Industries but before he becomes actually evil, be pulled back to his cool, upstanding self by the love of his good woman [after some relationship turbulence between him and WW, of course].
Who knows, perhaps while he and WW are having trouble, MM and Lacey's relationship might warm up again? After all, if WW is as excellent a MM-trainee as she seems to be, an overworked MM might be able to take a night off and let WW tend the store - with the understanding she will contact him if a situation arises that needs his personal attention. I think it would be hilarious to have MM and Lacey in a yellow teddy vs badger creativity contest [you, with the dirty mind, STOP THAT!] while we flash back and forth between them creating performance art and Lincoln log architecture and Wendy dispatching various minor evils.
Yes, we need more seasons of The Middleman.
mm [squeek! I say, squeek!]
I don't think that all the good people were evil and the evil people were good, but that a certain part of their personality was different. The middleman wasn't evil, he was just unmotivated. If it was the good vs bad switch, then he would have been evil. Instead he swore a lot and was unmotivated unlike the normal motivated person that never swore. Tyler almost was the middleman in training, in the other dimension he became the middleman in training. Which means that he's not evil, that wasn't the point of the alternate dimension.
I'm thinking the same thing. Maybe Tyler is not a good guy on the normal world...
It was all so bittersweet... This is my favorite show on TV right now, and the though of that being the last episode *ever* makes me so sad.
We need another season!
The finale has now been released on iTunes. I just finished downloading it. Now I have all twelve episodes ready to be viewed any time I like. I hope others are picking up the episodes as well as they stated that online viewing and downloads will also be taken into account when they decide to renew Middleman or not. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to re-watch The Palindrome Reversal Palindrome.
---------------------------------------EDIT----------------------------------------------------------
I just looked at the top 100 TV episodes being downloaded on iTunes. Episode 12, The Palindrome Reversal Palindrome, currently sits at number 11, and episode 11, the Clotharian Contamination Protocol, is at number 100.
No more monologuing, or I'll Swiss-cheese you on principle.
What I've always appreciated is the compactness of the show, in that stories don't needlessly get stretched out for a few episodes. If this were any other series, the finale would have ended in a cliffhanger with Wendy still stuck in the Mirror-Verse. I also feel the same way with the Sino-Mexican Revolution. If the show had been in other hands, Wendy wouldn't have flown off to the rescue in the Middlejet until the next episode. All of which is not to say that I wouldn't appreciate a multi-part Middleman storyline, just as long as the situation really warrants it.
Now for the real cliffhanger, series renewal, which will in part, be based on DVD sales. Will this be DVD only, or will there also be a simultaneous Blu-ray release? I've only just been able to appreciate The Middleman more over the course of the last three episodes since DirecTV went live with its HD feed.
And another thing, by my count, there have been five instances of a conversation happening in the foreground, while some sort of other activity, such as a "Jack Bauering", would take place in the background. I still love this joke, and really do hope that ABC Family gives the creative staff an opportunity to keep on using it.
Long may The Middleman wave!
Some people dream in black-and-white,
And others dream in color.
But when I see you in my sleep,
My dreams are sweet-and-sour.
Tonights episode was great, They referenced three of my favorite 80's episode. First, the "Ocselation Overthruster" was a plot device(literaterly and figurativility) from the 1984 scifi cult classic "Buckaro Banzi".
Second, the superdrug, "Dieuphemal" was from the 1981 scifi flick "Outland" , and of course, the whole subplot form "Escape from New York" ( BTW, AMC played "Escape..." earlier today) I almost forgot two Star Trek references, the Sphere, and evil parallel world( Mirror, mirror). I didn't know wether to scream or laugh, so I did both. If this is the season finale, and hopefully not the series finale. I can't wait for next season.
I loved all of the subtle Escape references too. They were "United States Police Officers" Russel and Van Cleef (Kurt Russell and Lee Van Cleef). Road names were Plisken and Carpenter, obviously referring to Snake Plisken and John Carpenter. That, and MM played a really good Snake Plisken type character. He even had the voice down pretty well.
No more monologuing, or I'll Swiss-cheese you on principle.
It was a good season finale I think the best episode yet but there are things that need to be answered so I think it needs to be brought back for another season. I love the show and I am one of the biggest Middlefan ever. I will be so sad if it doesn’t come back!
I think there will be another season. I'm just so positive about it!
Here are some questions left by th series:
Will we know about Wendy's father's whereabouts?
Is Tyler a bad guy or good guy? (since his mirror self is a good guy)
And the most important question in my mind...
Who's the other woman that MM loves? (I hope it's not Roxy because that would be a bummer..)
Go Middleman! I'll be waiting for the second season!
I know!!! We definitely need to know who "the other woman" is. I will be devastated if MM doesn't come back for Season 2. People who think this show is "corny" don't see the brilliance of it!!! I think it's exactly how a television adaptation of a graphic novel should be. It's not a "kids show" either. I'm 20...
Sorry for the rant. Just things I've heard.
"If we don't find an antidote, her heart is gonna explode like a sausage casing full of weasels." -The Incomparable Middleman"
Coming from a family of motorcyclists, I shrieked with delight at the whole "Middlehog" thing. Oh my goodness....loved it!! This one just had so many good moments...I hope this show gets renewed!! I'm already anxious for season two.
Wow! Like I caught maybe 30 or so minutes of it, but like...from what I saw it was amazing. Absolutely amazing. Lacey + dark hair = hot.
I'll need to rewatch it on here before the end of the week for sure. I'm so hoping the show gets renewed. I felt if it did it would be much more successful than it was this summer. Considering the fan base is already here...and we aren't going anywhere. We'll only grow more and more. Long live the Middleman!
It was wonderful! And through the Mirrorman I learned things about Matt Keeslar that I didn't know.
It was a good Season Finale, but there are too many questions in order for it to be a Series Finale. What about Wendy's father? Is Manservant Neville really a good guy? How does the Middleman really feel about Wendy? How many more wonderful "Holy..." can they come up with? I hope many more!!!
The Finale was great!
I think it leaves open the oppertunity for the show to flip from the normal MM & DD to the mirror MM and mirror Lacey.
I absolutely love this show and the finale was fantastic. It's good to hear that it's doing well on Itunes and I can't wait to get the dvd. Any news on when the dvd will come out?
Keeslar is ripped. I think I've watched those glorious abs and arms about five times now. But more importantly, the man can act. He deserves to be on a successful show and I hope this one is it.
I also really like the relationship between Wendy and TMM. There isn't another tv duo quite like them on tv and it's refreshing to watch. They have amazing chemistry and they have developed a relationship that's built on friendship, loyalty, and trust. It's so much fun to watch.
I hope all this talk about cancellation is just speculation and that nothing is confirmed yet. This is a surprisingly fun show- I'm glad I gave it a chance. But people don't know about it! Even sci-fi geeks say "huh?" when I tell them about it. More promotion, people... and not necessarily in ABC Family commercials. I don't know anyone who watches this channel! I know I didn't before Middleman. (Not saying it's a bad channel, just that it doesn't cater to my demographic.)
