12 dead in a military post in Texas
Posted Thu, 11/05/2009 - 22:45 — __Rex__FORT HOOD — An Army psychiatrist about to be deployed to a combat zone overseas allegedly shot and killed 12 people and wounded 31 in a rampage at this sprawling military post north of Austin on Thursday afternoon.
Sad to see such rampages again. It seems we get one every few months. I can't understand what is wrong with these people. 
He was a Major and the metal health doctor on the post (his time in service has been listed as no more than 3 years). They're looking nto possible PTSD as the cause. But, with him alive and looking for recovery (he was shot four times total, as of this morning he was still on a ventilator and incoherant, but according for Fort Hood official, "his death is not imminent." They're looking for recovery and lots of answers.

The sad thing is this wouldn't have happened if they had just let him off the hook. I mean he really didn't want to go overseas. Though apparently he had talked about suicide bombs and posted threats online... shouldn't that have been an indicator as to NOT put him into combat?

If he didn't want to go overseas couldn't he simply said that he was gay? I was left with the impression that this is one of the best ways to get out of the military without ending in prison

They a "don't ask, don't tell" policy. It doesn't matter if your gay or not, you can still be in the military.

I just saw something about that on the news. I didn't know he didn't want to go overseas though. The way people think and the ideas they come up with mystifies me.
Now the death number is 13.

to have Shell Shock you need to actually be in combat. Shell Shock, or battle fatigue, is caused by stress in the battle field. It short term, but can decrease stamina, slower reaction time, unable to prioritize and such.
It also shouldn't be confused with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder(PSTD)

But no seriously, some people can be so creepy. Example this one dude was we should make all the Muslims in America carry some sorta of ID or something. It was quite funny actually, he was like we should make them stick out so please are aware when they are near one.

True but on the bright side muslims in the USA still have lot more freedom and opportunities then in a large chunk of the muslim countries. Especially woman

Oh I am not complaining. I love the US, well off course I do, it is my home, and I wouldn't trade with anywhere else. But still It is weird and sad with how some people are these days.

When I heard this on the news I had to wonder how he had enough time to kill that many people on a military base with so many people carrying firearms. No guards saw him?

Still, if you see military personnel on a shooting rampage you don't fire at him? I don't care...if you are shooting innocent people you need to be taken down.
