Posted Mon, 11/02/2009 - 13:25 — RunFastDance2Today i found out my dog of 10 years has cancer and we dont know how much longer she will make it. We will have to wait and see how much longer. She also has a bad heart murmur. I cant imagine my life without her ( i know how pathetic that may sound). She was my first dog

i actually only watched about 30 min of it because i was kinda bored with it, but i did feel like she was VERY open and that the interviewer was very pushy. Kate stood her ground tho

thanks Sarah, they really do her diet now constits of hot dogs and gatorade lol the vet said just to give her what ever she wants, its not like some human food is gonna do anything now

Oh my goodness, I am so sorry. I know how you feel. My first dog died of cancer when I was six years old. If you need to talk about anything, I'm here.
Today I was eating a cupcake when the phone rang. I panicked and stuffed the entire cupcake into my mouth. I still don't know why I did that. MLIA

I'm kind of in the same boat with my dog; he's almost 13, has diabetes (gets insulin injections twice a day), cataracts (making him almost completely blind), and hypothyroidism. He also has little wart-like sores in random spots on his back and sides, we're guessing it's skin cancer, but since we aren't going to put him through surgeries and cancer treatments anyway we're not going to have it tested.
We're just waiting it out as well, once he starts really suffering we'll have to make the decision to do something. I'm hoping that he just goes in his sleep at home where he's comfortable.
It's not pathetic at all, your dog has been in your life for 10 years. It's going to be different without her.

oh my im so sorry! the vet said chemo wouldnt even be worth it for her (not to mention SUPER expensive) my mom had cancer and last night we just found out my friends mom did, now today my dog, its depressing. At least we know now we are both going through the same thing

Our old dog was having problems at the end of her life, so we decided to put her down. She was 15 and we had had her since I was 4. I'm on for a little but if you'd like to talk.

Thanks Maggie. Im sorry about your dog. what makes me more sad is that my parents said once shes gone we arent getting another. But im hoping they will realize how much life su.cks without one

Thanks. It is really hard, it but it gets easier as time goes on. My parents said that too, but it didn't last. We got Dexter 8 months (and 2 days) after we put Trixie down. I think getting another dog makes losing one easier, because you still have one to love.

I understand that. Dexter is nothing like Trixie, but it got easier once we got him. He had someone to pet and play with, but he gets in a lot of trouble. I thought I saw Trixie sometimes in the house, but it was just a white bag. What kind of dog is she?

a basset hound so shes never been the most active dog so that really hasnt changed lol she lost 15 lbs tho

That happened to Trixie too. We could have chosen surgery so the vet could try to figure out what was wrong, but we thought a 15 year old dog wouldn't wake up. Is that an option for you guys? Dexter's a beagle/basset hound mix.

its not worth it, kinda like in your dogs case. so they say didnt reccomend it

That's what we thought. We thought she was gonna die before Christmas of 2005, but she made it to April 1st 2006 (the day we put her down and April Fools Day). I hated knowing there was nothing we could do to help, but it was also kinda nice knowing she wasn't in pain anymore. And we can go see her whenever we'd like because she's buried in our backyard (Sorry if that's creepy)

I'm so sory. I know how you feel. I have three dogs, one of them since I was like 6 now I'm 14 I would be a wreck without him, I love him so much. And my other dogs, but I've known him the longest. I really hope your dog will make it. God bless.
