OT: Birthday Party Ideas
Posted Sat, 11/07/2009 - 16:16 — maggiemay94I'm turning 16 in February (I know that's a long time from now). I'm trying to come up with ideas for a party. I don't want some big, extravagant party. Those are too big for me and I've never understood having so many people at your birthday party. I have 2 ideas so far- bowling and inflatables. Bowling would be fun, but a typical party. Inflatables are awesome and not a typical party for a 16 year old. Would you want to go to a party like that? Do you have any suggestions?
BTW- inflatables are those big blow up things like moon bounces (if you didn't know that). They also have obstacle courses and things like that.
Unique idea: Make it a "give to your favorite charity" party and use all the extra money, beyond that for the food for your guests for charities. Forgo the decorations and donate the funds. Have a bucket(s) there for your guests to donate to charities. With the economy stinking so badly now, charities are really in need.

Good idea. Not to be selfish, but it's my 16 birthday. I want to make it as awesome as possible, without being too extravagant. Maybe I'll do that next time.

I say go for the inflatables! That's a different idea and it sounds really fun! (: Ha and I don't blame you for wanting to plan ahead, I'm currently planning for my 17th birthday that will be in December
Today I was eating a cupcake when the phone rang. I panicked and stuffed the entire cupcake into my mouth. I still don't know why I did that. MLIA
Okay! It'll probably end up being my party. They have to 2 weekends around my birthday available too. I'm so excited, but it's so far away. December is a lot closer than February.

Yeah I'm really excited about it (: There's this outdoor ice skating rink that's opening, and a nice seafood restaraunt is being opened up by our neighbor who we've known forever, so I think I'll incorporate both of those things. And of course an awesome cake (maybe with sushi on it)

Sounds fun, but that's too expensive for us. And I'd rather have a party than go somewhere, save the money for summer vacation.

Why not just do the usual. Books a dinner at a resturant ,then go clubbing?

You can't really go clubbing at 16. I'd rather have an inflatables party. I'm not the clubbing/partying kind of person.

Heh forgot about them, but thats probably because I don't think we have in anywhere close to where I live. Atleast none that I know of. *shrugs*

Inflatables! I had it for one of my parties when I was younger, and it was so much fun. Mine was in the backyard, so between the bounce house and the pool, the party was great. My 16th birthday was just at my house. We hung out around the pool, my yard, and parts of my house. It was a great night

They seem awesome. I'm pretty sure that's what my party will be. I wish we could do it in our backyard. It's big enough, but it's too cold in February. There's really nothing to do at my house, so it would need to be somewhere.

Yeah, I guess a perk of having an August birthday was always being able to have a pool party
I had a few other ones in between, but the majority of my parites were pool parties. I bet you and your friends will have an amazing time at your party. My 16th parties were both fun, and so were most of the ones I went to.

Oh. The only time I've ever been to one was when my younger cousin had a party there a few years ago. It was pretty nice, if I remember correctly.

They seem like pretty nice places. They have some cool bouncy things, according to the few pictures on their web site. This place was the only place that I could find that would have parties for teenagers. Everything else was like 10 and younger.

Inflatiables are soooo much. My friend had a party with a bunch of inflatiables for her 16th party and everyone had soooo much fun. We got to do so much stuff with them.
They sound really fun! I've been a couple places with inflatables and I love playing in them. It'll be even cooler with a bunch of friends.

yeah it was sooo much fun. So many people went and i think a couple more people are gonna go back for thier parties.
I would definitely have one like that after going to one. It's also reasonably priced, which makes it even better.

Ooooo inflatables sound really fun
For my 16th, I had a warehouse party... my parents hired a warehouse and got a DJ and I had open invites and like 150 people came, maybe more.... it was amazing!!
Wow. I don't have that many friends and we couldn't afford that. I'd rather have a smaller party than a huge one.

yeah it is. Would you guys be the only ones in the place?
Probably not. We would have to have an "after hours" party and it's more expensive. But, it would be at like 6 and I assume most people are at home at 6 on a Friday night.

Oh, sounds awesome...except I am partial to Snuffaluffagus myself.
I love him too! I love most the Sesame Street characters, but Elmo has always been my favorite.

Maggie, don't you live in Virginia. Cause I live in Virginia, too. Manassa. But anyway I had my mom rent the City Tavern for my party. I like the bowling idea. I would never think of that.

I do. I live near Richmond. My parents used to live in Manassas. My parents would probably never rent some place out for me, too expensive. Bowling would be okay, but the inflatables seem so much cooler. It's #1 on my list right now.
