Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.
If scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.
Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.
For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.
We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks..
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.
We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy', our Senior King.
It's 'inappropriate' to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such 'judgments' do not belong.
We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.
It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!

People get "Offended" * sarcasm* when I read my Bible, or write " Only God Can Judge Me" on my hand and binder, or close my eyes and say a prayer. But I get Offended when I get pulled into the principle's office and they try to take my Bible. Christians get Offended when we can't pray before lunch at school without people staring at you. I just don't see what is fair in that.

this is really good. but at my school and in all texan schools, we fortunately are allowed to pray and have stuff like that. we even offered free bibles out.
Uhg, it annoys me when Christians are all "I feel sorry for you" or "why don't you convert" when I say I don't believe in God, which happens a lot since I live in the bible belt.
Isn't apart of being christian accepting peoples differences? And not trying to change them? Yeah, right that's a load of cr*p.
My point is,Can't you believe what you believe and without wanting to change people? Is that sooo hard?

No. Accepting people's differences in the way you say is not what we are about. We cannot accept sin, although we ARE to love the sinner. Therefore as an analogy, we will sit down to dinner with someone who is eating liver (for example), but we will not partake of the liver.
The part of being a Christian is the "Great Commision" sharing the good news and the joy. When one goes to a great restaurant, one tell others because they want them to enjoy the good food. It is the same for us, but to a greater degree. We have the greatest "FOOD" ever.

I agree with the way she put this. Christians love everyone, how hard that may be, but we can't sin. God put us here to help lead others to God. But I don't dislike people because they aren't Christians. I just feel sorry that they don't have a relationship with God like I do. It makes me really happy to know that I am going to Heaven someday. But nobody can pull your hair and make you become a Christian. And nobody can hate you because your not a Christian.

You should research it(after all chritstianity,judaism and islam all worship the same god). Muslims considers themself to know the real final message of god. And they also acknowledge Jesus. Altough not a son of god but as a prophet

I was just using it for an example. Many christians I know don't really don't accept other religons. My friend and I are both interested in buddhism. The only difference is that I'm only interested and facsinated by it while she actually is apart of the religon and lives it. One christian told us that buddhism was a phony religon and that it's not the true way to happiness. So I was just wondering about that.

I heard on the news around Christmas time that there was a nativity scene outside a government people and someone put up an atheist sign by it. The athiest sign was taken down. I find that wrong. If Christians can put up a nativity scene then atheists should be able to put up their sign. If you're gonna say God in the pledge, you should also say all of the other words for God (Allah, etc.).

People just cant grasp that the world is not fair and that they will get offened at some point. Why should Christians have to get up early in the morning to be able to pray before school at school. Thats horrible. The world was not built so that the word of God was to be hidden from those who "might get offened." Why cant the schools figure out that Christians might get offened by not being able to talk about God in schools. THAT is what people should get offened about. NOT that people "might" get offened by talking about God in school. It is easy to get over hearing someone talk about God than not being able to talk about God. I am not saying that public schools should teach about the Bible. I am just saying that they should not, not let kids speak their minds about their religion!

Probably in the state I want to move out of, California. This place is nuts. (Well, I should say in some of the big cities, it is nuts. I have heard smaller areas are fine.)

OMG I love Cali. I don't live there but I go back and forth there since my other side of the family lives there. All I can say is I love the hell out of LA and San Fransisco.

I don't see what's so bad about Cali besides the ghetto neighborhoods like Oakland, Central LA, Compton, etc. (even though those places have good in them as well). California is like the place with their shopping areas, attractions, open minded and interesting people as well as diverse people. I love it.

I feel bad for all the people who don't believe in God, because yall are all alone. God is always with me as long as I want him there. Even if I slip up and do something stupid he is still there. I love God and if you don't like this then I am sorry. But I'm not going to go to school every day and pretend that I don't care about God. I posted this because I bring my Bible to school and carry it around with me in my purse. I read it during break and when I am done with my work. A teacher tried to take it away from me and I wouldn't let him have it. I was asked to go to the principles office. But guess what??? I still got my Bible in my purse!!! They can't take God away from me!!! I put up a fight against this and my friends were behind me. I pray and I don't care who sees!! I appreciated all the people who are behind me on this. And I don't care that those who aren't say. ( I feel bad for you) But I don't care for your op opinion! Thanks guys.

There are two valauble lessons you will learn in life when you grow older
1. People are different. They find differents sources of joy and make different decisions. Feeling sorry for people because they are not like you is a bit pointless .That's like saying you feel bad for all the people who will never know the joy of eating fried dolphin. I am sure that some people find it delicious and one of the great things in life but other just look at it and don't really care or feel there is anything they are missing. So really don't bother. Feel sorry for the people who actually have problems
2. There are many jerks in the world. Don't let them make you bitter and set you against _insert thing _. Make sure you concentrate your negative feelings just on them as individuals and if you get the chance get back at them

Well sweetie, don't feel bad, everyone has their own source to happiness. When I was involved with christianity I didn't like it. I couldn't be bisexual, I couldn't be pro-sex and open towards sexuality like I am, and I'm not a good girl. I'm not a bad girl either but I'm a free spirit. I didn't think christianity offered me that and now. Now I feel happy being free and not following rules. Now if christianity is good for you that's great but it [filtered word] for everyone. Some people are happy being muslim, buddhist, and even athiest. Some people have differenct sources of happiness.

Honestly what's with all the drama. If you are so bothered that kids aren't studying religion in school(altough I highly doubt the situations is quite as "tragic" as people try to make it out to be) just put a worlds religions class, or teach various religions philosophies as part of well philosophy class. Or hell why not study the bible in literature class. That's what we did in my school,we studied it along the greek myths and other similair topics

And "Separation of Church and State was to keep the state from controlling free worship and NOT TO kick God out of our govenrment." If so, we would not have "In God we Trust" on all our money, or "We are endowed by our Creator...." or a prayer before Congress.... When it comes down to it, some do not like God because He asks us to behave, and like spoiled kids, we tantrum.

This poem is amazing. I love it. If I'm afraid or not it doesn't matter I will pray. I pray in public before a flight or in school when I'm scared. I've even prayed on a school bus to watch over me and keep me safe. It truly is sad that our country can't stand to have God in anything even though without God none of us would be here. I pray daily and sometimes even more than once a day, why? Because I can o all things through God who strengthens me and God is my salvation an I know he will ever leave m side no matter what goes wrong.

WOW. You know we did not have so much violence in school even a few decades ago and God was not a "dirty word" then either. But then again, how dare we who believe, cause overly sensitive godless persons be "Offffeeennnnnded." (Scarcasm) Well, I do not remember an American right that says one has a right "not to be offended." I am offended by those who will not let me mention God. So, now who is more important a small minority who cannot just ignore what offends them or the majority who are offended to be squelched?

I think it is really horrible that a country that was built on the words, "In God We Trust," has stripped the right/choice to involve religion in school. If any student is able to go check out a book on types of cults then they should also at least have the option to pull the Holy Bible off the shelf too. Plus if the kids were allowed to have a bible study club, like they had a young mothers club when I was in high school, at least the kids would be able to discuss moral decisions that were going to affect them for the rest of their lives vs 'How to take care an infant." Instead of the government trying to figure out how to punish someone for their religious beliefs ... They need to go back and review this country's history and realize maybe if they hadn't taken the right to worship "The word of God," that our children may of had and still have another(better) choice of conversation in school reguarding family values instead of creating one at such an early age.
