we're doing something different
OT: To those at Fort Hood...
Posted Fri, 11/06/2009 - 15:15 — MrsJazzIt is both heartbreaking and tragic that this has occured. We lose soldiers, sailors, and airman alike over seas. But, to lose these young men and women on our own soil...the entire base stopped yesterday. Our flags are flying lowered now. They will stay at half mass until Monday. My thoughts, prayers and my heart truly goes out to the victims and their families.
The vicitims ....

Gosh, every time I hear about this stuff it makes me feel so grateful that none of the amazing men(and women) in my life chose this path. I am so grateful to those who do this, do not get me wrong, but I would be a nervous wreck knowing these things happen.

yeah... I know what you mean... I don't think I can ever be strong enough like Mrs. Jazz to be in love with someone in the military! I'd hate the worry watching them board a plane and having that be the last time I see him...
I used to believe in all your romantic dreaming
it really ain't that cute anymore
cause my time's to precious
so I wish you the best with
whatever it is you're looking for
baby this is all for your own good
I'm leaving cause I know you never would
I get so sad every time I hear about it. It amazes me the things that happen sometimes. My thoughts are with everyone at Fort Hood.
Question- Why is the guy on a ventilator? Did he get shot?

The man who commited this crime was shot four times in order to bring him down and cease any further harm.

Now I remember hearing about that on the news, but I didn't know he was shot 4 times.
There's so much scary stuff going on right now- Fort Hood, there was a shooting at an office in Florida and on a school bus somewhere, and I just found out there's some threat going around my school.

I am hoping the teachers are privy to this threat...
In most school shootings the shooter had told someone before it happened. Sometimes to warn someone in a similar spot to lay low that day or avoid a certain area.
If they are not aware of it, I would strongly recommend informing a teacher or principal.

The principal knows, that's who we found out from. He called everyone to tell them (it's a recorded message that gets sent to everyone). But apparently the person doesn't go to my school or isn't there anymore.

As one shooting incident proved, they don't need to be in the school.
Hopefully its just a bluff in an attempt to stir up some chaos following thursday and todays incident.

I know that.
I hope so. It makes me kinda scared to go to school Monday. Hopefully it gets figured out before then. I'm trying to find out what's going on, but everyone is at the football game.

Then I would just stay home, and if your parents refuse just ditch.

I might, we'll just see. I've never ditched, and honestly, I'm kinda scared to.

Better to be scared of the consequences of ditching then being scared of sitting in the classroom. If you explain yourself to your parents/teachers, I would hope they would understand.

True true. I'll just have to wait and see what happens over the weekend. Hopefully we'll get another phone call this weekend about it. They should understand, especially my parents.

Neither.
A grand conspiracy will be uncovered and...
hmm...
Thats all I got. pretty sncky for a writer lol.
Most likely he will be locked in prison.

My friend told me they know who the guy is and the police have him. That might not be true, but I think it is.
You're a better writer than me, that's for sure.

The chain of events right now is definitely tragic. Hopefully they end soon.
Security forces was probably given a fire at will order. Not sure. But, it was releases he suffered 4 gun shot wounds. So maybe one day we'll know his intentions.

It is. The threat at school makes me not want to go on Monday, although the kid either doesn't go to my school or isn't there anymore.
Does that mean that they fire if needed? I really do hope we find out why he did it.

The fire at will order means to shoot in order to take the person out. The fortunately did so to leave him alive and answer the questions that will be weighingon everyone's mind for a while.

Okay, that makes sense. I don't know how I'll feel if we don't find out why. The news people have been at Fort Lee since it happened, talking to people there and talking about it the security policy will change. It's scary knowing there's a military post nearby where that could happen.

Hopefully this is a one time incident. It's heartbreaking enough I couldn't imagine happening more than once. I hope once Major Hasan comes through he'll be ready to answer some questions.

That's good, that way he can answer all these questions. What do you think will happen- jail, death penalty?
"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain."

♥ RIP Miss Kristy. 4/29/69-5/6/09 ♥
For him, he would be sent to the military prison at least. Fort Lebonworth (I think is the correct spelling) Death penalty would possibly follow but if it's due to mental issues they will investigate and question for a while

That seems reasonable. I would hope he's mentally stable considering his job on base.

Thats the funny thing about psychiatrists: They know all the symptoms to get away with just about anything. The thing is he could have been mentally stable up until the night before, hell even just before he decided to go for it. But if he wasn't in his right mind and wasn't aware of his actions he can't be held responsible.
Though if their were other gunmen(a bit fuzzy on the details) and if they were conspiring with him... well then I guess not.
*shrugs*

I heard they thought there were 2 other gunmen, but it wasn't true so they let them go.

Anyways I hope this guys gets a nice helping of justice...
Hopefully in the from of his boyfriend in prison

All of my thoughts and prayers are with all of the military familes.
You're beautiful
Every little piece love, don't you know
You're really gonna be someone, ask anyone
When you find everything you looked for
I hope your life leads you back to my door
Oh but if it don't, stay beautiful♥
My thoughts are prayers are with all military families during this difficult and confusing time. One of the brave men that was killed lived about 45 min away from me

It is both tragic and heartbreaking. Every branch has stopped. This man, a Major, an officer was the metal health doctor on post. He was supposed to help these young men and women with their issues and prevent these tragedies. Instead this is what happens. Major Hasan is a alive, on a ventilator and incoherant but they are expecting recovery and lots of answers. This base stopped yesterday. Flags have all been lowered. And for those at Fort Hood, we couldn't be praying any harder than we are.

MrsJazz can you explain to me why they lower the flags?
I would think rising them to the fullest would symbolise the idea that America is strong, that the people who have died are never forgotten and will always stand tall and strong in the hearts and minds of Americans.
"You All Everybody! You All Everbody!" - Charlie

i think it might be to symbolize that they have fallen?

Lowering the flags is a matter a respect. It gives the impression that the flag is bowing down or lowering your head down to those who have fallen victim to these acts.
Edit* I should note that lower the flag is even deeper sybolism since the flag represents the United States. Going deeper thn that when you join the military you swear in saying you'll defend the flag, the constitution...so help you God...

Oh Trista, coming from a military family, it is so hard to see that. Why did that guy join the military to start with? And then to go off and kill our heros!! Grrr. It makes me so mad.
✝ Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things will be given unto you...✝
Probably because he had no intentions what so ever about this day. It was only after a bunch of incidents that finally drove him over the edge.
The sad part is, this could have easily been avoided if he was just given what he wanted, which was to nto go over seas.
"You All Everybody! You All Everbody!" - Charlie
fanfiction account Unit7
He planned this. Yesterday he was giving stuff away to a neighbor (s).
✝ Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things will be given unto you...✝
I just wonder about those intentions when he had, at this point what they have released, was two acting with him. What did the other two or if there was confirmed one, have to do with anything?
Sadly if he would have been treated he would have gotten out of deployment. (If in fact that was his intentions in the frst place.)

Well there is evidence to suggest that he had gone extremist. If I remember correctly he had started talking about Suicide Bombs and posting threats and the likes online. Not sure the full details, but I think he also supported in some sense of middle easterners of fighting back(now if I thought the situation was different and we weren't in there fighting against terrorist and just the middle east in general I would probably agree)
So there is a chance that he had turned the other people. That or manipulated them in such away to encourage their desires. I am sure being a psychiatrist gave him an upper hand in that.
I believe his intentions when joining up were about the same for anyone joining up. Whether it be for the money or the honor of serving your country, or just getting to make something of yourself. I think he had good intentions. But he just sorta drifted off and eventually after so much he took the plunge.
Sorta sad really.

Very sad. Him being the metal health doctor on post was even more shocking. They have his time in service listed as less than 3 years. So I'll bet he completed all his med training before joining. Which would explain why he recieved the rank as Major right off. Still heartbreaking it led to this. But, with him alive hopefully we'll have some answers soon.
