The Internet Troll. Everyone who has ever been on a semiactive messaging board knows what a Troll is. Atleast, they think they know. You may think you know how to spot a troll.

They are the overly obnoxious people... right?

Not all the time, some people are just obnoxious. That gummy bear person was a Troll. but Chocolatethunder has also demonstrated some obnoxiousness. Does this mean he is a troll? No.

They are the people who voice their negative opinions about the show... right?

Nope. Yup thats right. people who voice negative opinions, or even out right hate for the show are not always trolls. Sometimes they are just annoyed fans. I believe we have a few great examples of this. Grace having Sex anyone? Grace and the misconception God told her it was ok to have sex. I believe Dawn and Hannah are definitely great examples of this. Does this mean these people are trolls? Nope not at all.

As of recently I have noticed that alot of people have taken the use of the word Troll a bit to loosely. Suddenly every pregnant person new here who claims to be pregnant are trolls. This is then followed by a load of insults and name calling.

Wait! Before I continue I forgot something. Another key thing about a Troll is that they often use insults and bash other members. Sometimes they do it more subtle like and far more intellectualy. but sometimes these Trolls fail to do this... and just say it out right. Some do it obnoxiously simply because it works to obtain quick and easy lulz.

Now where was I? Oh right. When someone new on here claims to be pregnant, quite a few of us make jokes at their expense. They insult them, they put them down. They make it impossible for them to seek the help they might need.

Wait a minute! This sounds familiar. Insulting people, making their lives a pain, hindering someones need for help, causing flame wars... My Lord! That basicly sounds like a... troll.

How Ironic? The community at the official Secret Life forums has turned into a bunch of Trolls. Isn't that just brilliant. While the community points fingers, flames people, and makes a potentially scared girl feel even worse, we get our little kicks out of our 'cunning' insults.

How deranged is that? I like to call this 'Legacy of The Trolls' While we may have 'vanquished' the trolls and sent them running. But in reality... they won. Thats right every PreggoTroll(a troll specializing in fake pregnancies) has Won. We thought we got rid of them, we thought we saw the last of them. but in reality they sank their claws into our hearts and poisoned us. Because they turned us... into them. Now at the smallest thing we dislike, we shout "TROLL!!" and be done with it.

They may not get to see the lulz they produce... but they know they have won.

there is this saying... not sure who said it or if this is accurate. I am not even sure where it came from. Though I did hear it on L&O. "I would rather see 10 convicted criminals set free, then to see a 1 innocent man go to prison." Again I do not exactly know if this is correct, but the meaning is still true.

I think that as a community we need to soften our hearts. We need to rid ourselves of this Troll Poison. Because we may be tricked a dozen times. We may feel that poison creep through our system again. Yet I believe that we are better off gritting our teeth and bearingit.

Because one day... someone will come on here. They will be in a terrible situation. They will not know where to turn for advice. So they ask here. That girl, who ever she is, is going to seek out our help.

Do we turn her away, making her life more miserable? Do we become the kids at her school? Do we send a desperate and scared kid, because thats what she is, away? She might do something desperate. Hide the pregnancy, hide it all from everyone and give birth to it by herself.

Have you ever heard of the stories where such mothers leave their newborn in a dumpster, alone and crying? Those who profess prolife and would allow this to happen should be ashamed.

Or do we allow ourselves to open up. To quietly wait while giving our best advice for the given situation. You can have your doubts and you do not have to believe her at all. But you should give the best advice for that situation regardless. Sure we may find the trolls teeth sinking into our hearts, tearing at it without remorse.

But is it worth it to help a scared child who is responsible for another life? I believe so.

I once heard two things that seem to fit here:

"All Babies Are A Blessing."
"All Life Is Precious."

Do these sound familiar? Because I heard them on here. In the abortion thread, and the thread that asked if John was a curse or a blessing.

I believe those two statements are true. I had the belief that others shared this.

From now on I would like to see the word Troll used less. Especially in the Pregnant threads. I know that they are not all telling the truth. But I rather feel that heart hardening poison flow through my viens then to hear a tragic story on the news about a new born...

I hope that I am not alone in this... But if I am, then so be it.
