Does ABC Family Even Care About Copyright Infringement?
Posted Mon, 09/07/2009 - 18:46 — bumboclatI have been trying to be a good samaritan and help report youtube videos that have copyright infringement and yet I have seen no action taking place! These videos are still up on youtube scotch free! Like this one **Link Removed**
What does it take for ABC Family or whoever can claim copyright infringement to get rid of these videos on youtube?!

I would sooner call it being spiteful, than "trying to be a good samaritan"...
I do not advocate copyright infringements either, but I have a few remarks on the subject (first I didn't want to comment, hoping, that it would sink into oblivion, but somebody brought it up again, soooo...):
Those vids - especially the fanmade ones - only help to popularize this superb show. If U ever read the comments, U would know. (Some great fanvids there.)
Just think of it: how many people can check out youtube all over the world?
So, if U were a real fan, U would only hope, that a lot of people got a taste for it through youtube.

I understand ABC Family's view of this, but they should also know that unless you are in the United States, the ABC Family website does not allow overseas fans to watch the episodes on the video feed. However youtube can be watched from any country and fans can see 10 Things and come to know and love it as U.S. fans do. ABCF should change their site video feed so overseas fans can watch, because doesn't watching an episode on this site help with the calculating of ratings?
I would like wacthing 10 things on ABCfamily.com but I know they have some issues with the copyright!
but, for example, on mtv.com I can watch full episode without any problems!
It doesn't help with the ratings, but they do pay attention to the site, especially when they are considering whether or not to renew the series.

We also are tracking copyrights on YouTube to the best of our ability, but we do not control the content on external sites. Their compliance is of concern to us, and we rely on their attention to these infringements.

Having videos in youtube is good, because it's publicity. More people will know about the series, watch it, fall in love with it, become fans and start watching it on tv and here.
Reporting the videos is not been a good samaritan, it's been a stool pigeon.
And having too much free time.
