Okay, I have another thing for you to discuss...
1. What if there is no "Mr. Ohio" and Bianca was just threatening to tell her dad that because she knows that the dad would freak out and demand a full test to check if this is true (he is a gynecologist after all). Bianca was desperate.
2. What if Pat wasn't willing to fight for her?
3. What if Kat was still in love with him and she took him back.
Till the show was on, I came here several times every day to read all the new info - even at work - but was way too lazy to register and comment. Now I'm bored. All my usual "drama/crime/sci-fi with a bit of fun" shows are coming back, but I'm simply not that interested anymore.
This "lot of fun with a bit of drama" show is far better! (Dear Makers, U have a great sense of humour, love U 4 it!)
Anyway, since I have nothing to do, I decided to share some of my thoughts with my fellow rabid fans.
The Kat-Patrick relationship:
Patrick hurt Kat many times, too. If U go through the Eps, Kat was obviously interested since Ep2 - the scene when she saw Patrick on a picture she took... - but what did she get ever since the begining?
Ep1: "...I find U interesting." Next day he shows up with a girl.
Ep2: Patrick with another girl again; he bought a flower, but to whom?!
Ep3: at the club, she turns away only 4 a moment, she looks back, and he is with yet another girl
Ep4: "U R obsessed with me"
Ep5: "lets keep our distance"
Ep7: yet another girl shows up; "we can just make out"
Ep8: he disappears from the dance
Sooo, she got a little fed up and is not able to completely trust Patrick - no wonder. We've seen quite a lot of scenes that gave Kat's feelings away to us, but after all the above I wouldn't jump right into the arms of the guy either, just because he gives me a sad puppy look.
Hmm... those eyes... OK, maybe I would...
By the way, in Ep9, when she was drunk, and at the end of Ep 10 she showed Patrick, that she is definitely interested.
Well, I could go on and on, but the thing is: we want a lot more seasons, so we need them to take things slow and fight a lot, so they can kiss and make up.
Oh, and about Mr. Ohio: I wouldn't mind seeing some jealousy on Patrick's face, but just 4 a few Eps and with no feelings towards Mr. Ohio on Kat's side, because I'm so fed up with those: "one season I'm with U, next season sy else comes along, than back 2 U again" type of shows.

You're so right. But I gotta say in episode 1 when he shows up with another girl on the back of his bike he was totally trying to get a rise out of Kat. Just look at the look on his face. And when he shows up at the party and he's kinda telling her what happened he never actually said sorry, he just told her to get over it. I would be pretty pissed too. I'm kinda with Kat, being with a wishy-washy guy would be hard.
As for Mr. Ohio I am so with you. I would like to see Patrick a little jealous. It would be funny. But I don't want the whole make up break up crap most shows do. It's so old. I hope next season is even better than the first.

Yeah I agree with what you said. Patrick has hurt Kat alot but she stills forgives him and goes back to him becuase she likes him. I agree with you about maybe seeing Patrick getting jealous over Mr. Ohio but not for the whole season. I hope they don't draw it out and Patrick and Kat are always mad at each other fighting. I can't wait till the next season!

I agree with you about Patrick in the early episodes. He is so interested in her, but can't/won't lay all of his cards on the table. Which makes sense, right? No one wants to tell someone that they like them without any assurance that they are going to get a good response. But more than that, I think he is probably uncomfortable with how much he likes her and keeps pulling back just to make sure he can.

I agree. In fact, I think this is where they both are at right now, except that Patrick's quickly realizing that he doesn't want to pull away anymore.

I think you are right. It is really nice to see a show where the guy recognizes what he wants before the girl! But I also think that Patrick has a couple good pull-aways yet to come (maybe centered on when Kat gets to close to his family stuff?) at least for the sake of the continuing drama. It's a shame, I could probably watch an entire episode devoted to them hanging out and talking about music!

Same here, especially if they teased each other throughout the whole Ep., because that's what I love most about this show: the fun!

Yes, I think it's the same with both of them, and as U said, it makes perfect sense: they're at the begining of their relationship, getting to know each other, not wanting to give away too much or to get hurt, and just figuring out how to handle things. I'm not even sure if Patrick has ever had a more serious relationship be4, which could make it even harder... but more Eps&more fun 4 us.

i was thinking of what might happen if mr. ohio visited and i thought of something what if patrick gets jealous and decides to make kat jealous so he starts having those bimbos again..........i mean doesn't that sound maybe like something he would do?

I don't think so. Patrick and Kat have a very complicated relationship, but they don't play games with each other. Neither one of them would be that cruel.
However they introduce a third party member, whether it be an old boyfriend or maybe a new interest, I wouldn't mind seeing a jealous, protective Patrick.

Yup... I think he's in so deep he couldn't get out if he wanted to now. I especially love when he brings Kat the water in the finale. Kat: "Can't. Plastic water bottle." Patrick: "I can pour it into my hand." Sarcasm or smitten? Little bit of both?

Bit of both. I agree. Patrick is completely and irretrievably invested in this relationship.
of course he is! considering he was even willing to take the flyers from kat in the hallway shows that he is in it... the scene was so comfortable because they were able to disagree and fight about it, but nothing too forceful from each one of them. he is there for her, whether she likes it or not

It still bothers me that Patrick is clearly more invested (trying) than Kat even though she is invested emotionally but is so resistant. He has asked her out once, twice, three times now? He told her about the band playing in episode three… That seemed like a date to me. The dance…. Obvious. And the beach, which Patrick asked her multiple times. Not to mention all the other things.
When you say, “hurting” are you talking about by keeping that safe distance away? Ooo she’s keeping him an arms length away to protect herself, but at the same time that distance is what’s *“hurting”* him. I like that thought.
*hurting- annoying, letting him down, teasing… I clearly cannot find the right word.
I agree that it is time for Kat to step up and initiate some contact, physical or emotional. I will say though, that I think at first, (episode 1-3 maybe) one of the things about Kat that fascinated Patrick is that she doesn't fall all over him.

My opinion: I think it's entirely possible that Kat's Mr. Ohio, etc., was an absolute jerk. But what if he wasn't? I know everyone's speculating that Kat's femininst outlook is based on her experiences with this guy, but what if they weren't? My theory is that Kat actually liked this guy, but something took them apart. Now, she likes Patrick, and this guy isn't so important. I think that Kat's feminism is directly related to her mother, not a guy. I know feminists tend to not exactly be fans of males, but it seems to me that Kat isn't so much a feminist than she is a humanitarian. I also (want) to believe that Kat doesn't regret losing her virginity as much. Although, it's highly likely that she does. Long story short: I don't (want) to believe that Kat and her virginity issue is such a horrendous thing for her as everyone else is inclined to believe.

I think that this guy and Kat are still friends I say that because I don't think they would bring another guy like Patrick on that she would but heads with this guy is probably the total opposite of Patrick and fits into Kat's life plans.
I think a lot of us (me included) are still stuck on the movie plot. You are very right in that we have been given no hints about this guy. Kat may be completely happy with losing her virginity for all we know. There may be nothing wrong with Mr. Ohio (or as I've said before, Mr. Spring Break, Mr. European Vacation!) lol
My theory: I'm thinking Mr. Ohio is a year or two older than Kat... and he finds is way to California for college. That would be interesting for Kat & Patrick...
Or maybe on college visits...then we can get rid of him after a few episodes! What if Walter loves him (not knowing that he and Kat knocked boots) and invites him to stay while doing school interviews in an attempt to distrct Kat from Patrick. I still think this guy is going to be a jerk.

First of all I want to know how Bianca knows about Kat lack of virginity.. ??? Did they have a rare best friends/sisters moment and Kat let loose? just curious...
Next, I don't think we can safely say that Patrick is in love with Kat. To paraphrase something that Michael said in the finale... Patrick "is 17, and knows things deep in his pants." THAT BEING SAID, i don't think that Patrick is purely interesting in Kat for her looks, we all know that they banter back and forth quite nicely. so while they LIKE each other and perhaps LUST for one another, let's not mistake that for love. Ok, im finished with my jaded side for the morning.
Jealousy will be a very interesting side of Patrick Verona. I can't quite place whether he will be grandiose or overly macho if Mr. Ohio should come into the picture. I can't see him being someone he is not, Patrick will do as Patrick be. But by that time, Kat knows him. It's like his comment about the helmet in the finale, he knows her like she knows him. There is a certain comfort between them, that no one can understand. Their chemistry.
If Mr. Ohio somehow, finds his way into an episode, I will admit that I will be the first in line to analyze that backwards and forwards. There being so many schools in the US... why Padua? anyway, I think that something in their past relationship will leave Mr. Ohio pining for Kat, and Kat disgusted. I KNOW that the movie is different from the tv, but kat will hate Mr. Ohio like movie-kat hates movie-joey.
okay i know alot of people haven't seen the movie but if you watch it it will clear alot of stuff up. but all im gonna say is that regardless of how it happened the mr.ohio charecter helped kat become who she is today.

I understand what you're saying, but a lot of people have made it clear to me that this is not the movie. As much as I wanted to compare the two in the beginning, there is a point where you have to say this is not the movie and you have to look at it as it's own thing. I get what you're saying. If this was a trivia game of the movie I could tell you that Kat had sex with Joey and blah blah and that's why she is the way she is, but that doesn't mean it's going to be the same way for the show.
Yep. If they had brought him in this season, I would have assumed Mr. Ohio would be a movie-Joey. Now that the new 10 Things is all set up, though, I don't think we'll be seeing many similarities with the movie next year. It is it's own beast at this point.
I agree with both of you (mshrmit and Blimekid). It’s inaccurate to say to 'watch the movie and it will clear things up'. There are similarities, yes, but clearly the writers are going in their own direction.
i think kat use to be are really preppy girl and she dated this guy named mr. ohio and they where in love but then they had sex and then he started cheating on her and becoming a big jerk. then she became the feminist and she told her self that im never going to date a player, then she meets patrick and she is falling for him! then she stops her self because she knows that he is a player and her has not shown her in anyway that he could be prince charming! and thats what hopefully the next season is going to be about!

Regarding your changes to the OP, point #1. I think the interview with Carter pretty much confirms that Kat definitely is NOT a virgin. He said: I think the audience is interested in who Kat lost her virginity to, and that's something we're thinking about and wanting to explore. So a Mr. Ohio exists (or Mr. Spring Break, or Mr. European Vacation, lol.) As in, Bianca was telling the truth.

1. i think patrick would be willing to fight for her because he is well basically in love with her though he wont tell her...but if he didn't that would suck and he didn't he would just be letting the other guy win and have kat go back to him
2. i don't want her to take him back really but in a way it wouldn't be terrible cause patrick would be jealous and i mean maybe if he didn't think that earlier she was worth fighting for than maybe he realizes "hey i think kat is amazing and is worth winning over" and fights for her (which might make kat happy that she realizes that he realizes that she is worth it to him) if that happens than mr. ohio would probably in 2-3 episodes maybe and it be good
so i think that if patrick doesn't think kat is worth fighting for causing her to date mr. ohio and than him realizing shes worth it and fighting and her realizing why she dumped mr. ohio in the first place and realizing patrick is fighting for her affections might make a decent 2 or 3 episodes.

Mr. Ohio could have been a semi-serious boyfriend for Kat who turned out to be a jerk. He could have cheated on her or something, and then Kat moved.
Here are my personal opionions: I think Mr. Ohio will be around temporarily, just one episode, 2 eps MAX. I think he was someone Kat thought she could trust, who ended up being a jerk. Someone she thought really cared about her, who ended up just sleeping with her for a notch on the bedpost.
I think Kat will be disgusted by running into Mr. Ohio. I am not expecting her to have any interest in him at all. I also don't think she'll use him to get Patrick jealous. Any jealousy by Patrick will be because he reads the situation wrong. I don't mind seeing a little jealousy in Patrick, but I don't want Kat to be using Mr. Ohio to anger or get back at Patrick. I also don't think he's going to fight with the guy. While it would be nice for him to defend Kat, I don't think she'd get herself into such a situation with Mr. Ohio in the first place. (For example, is he going to come on to her? Kat will kick him where it hurts! She can defend herself.) I think he's just going to irritate her. Any defensive actions by Patrick should be again because he misinterpreted something.
Of course, we don't know that Kat is going to like any jealousy or Patrick defending her. It could always make her angry. That is definitely possible.
In the movie, her mom left and she turned to Joey for comfort, is that correct? In the TV show, her mom died 7 years ago, so Kat was 9 or 10? I don't think it's directly related to that but it certainly can be a factor.
Those are just my thoughts--I'm sure many will disagree.
