Two things (please comment on both)
Posted Thu, 06/04/2009 - 12:41 — PledgeLeonorOmegaChiI know it was long ago but im curious. Did you guys get over the whole, Evan cheated thing and actually wanted them to work at one point. I was touched by when he defended her to his parents. Plus, I was excited when he said that he was stupid and he was gonna go back and tell her he loves her. I was rocked when she beat him to it by saying she is okay with just being friends. I felt for him when he tried to win her back. And I understood him when he sent her out of his room when he saw that Casey thought he was pathetic for paying off the guy to not date Casey. I actually would have done the same thing. I thought the writers are doing a great job with Evan, he has been in and out of being evil and good. So the question is, did you ever look at Evan as a good person and a viable option for Casey? Nowadays, do you despise him or still have hope that he will do the right thing? Would you respect him more if him and Cappie were best friends again?
Second thing:
I am so in love with this show that I wish I could actually rush at CRU. Is there a RPG, like a message board kinda rpg or fanfic sight that you know about? Would someone start one? Would you join? Just for fun, type up your rush profile. I'll post mine in a second.
i definetly get what your saying and agree completely,he cheated yes which was his giant mistake but she was the one willing to overlook it and he was so happy and so in love,its not his fault if frannie came and messed with everything and tried her best to convince him otherwise,and casey didnt do much to make it show that what frannie said was untrue,evan made some good points and i found it so cute when he was going to go ask for her back it was just bad timing and yea ok he payed another guy not to date her,that wasnt the smartest thing but hey he panicked,he loved her that much and i mean he was just trying so hard to win her back,can you blame the guy? i realllllly would like to see them end up back together
i think shes good for him ,and as for cappie it seems to me that him and rebecca go better together
he keeps her nicer and she has him lower down on the partying a bit
There are definitely a couple of ways to go regarding the re-forming friendship between Evan and Cappie. Obviously there has been tension b/c of Casey, rival frats, and just very different personalities and views on life. Evan is obviously still not over Casey either so that could make for an interesting up-coming season when Cappie and Casey get together(which I feel after a couple of episodes they will).
Watching the episodes recently(I really just became a fan of the show) I sometimes got the feeling that Cappie is sort of the guy Evan wants to be. Not tied down by family restrictions or name, he's liked b/c of the guy he is not the connections he has. I also think an important part of the Cappie-Evan friendship is that Cappie likes/liked Evan for himself. He didn't care about the money and power of the Chambers name.
I don't really care for Evan, not a fan of his actions, but the writers have done a great job making it so you can't completely hate him because he does have his moments when he comes through(Calvin comes to mind, getting the society to give Cappie a 2nd chance, a couple of others) but for every good moment he has an equally harmful moment where you can't stand him.
I have a feeling the Cappie-Evan friendship may not last very long because Evan is not over her but their neutrality(I guess) comes when neither of them are dating Casey or really having any contact with her, what happens if/when Cappie and Casey get back together?
One thing I will say though is that if they re-visit any sort of Casey-Evan thing(with her showing feelings toward him) than the writers are definitely running out of stuff. Any girl that would go back to a guy that 1) cheated on her 2) humiliated her in front of everyone they knew 3) went out with her close friend to make her jealous 4) pay guys to stay away from her/have his friend keep guys away from her 5) treat her brother like a piece of trash would be pathetic in my book and would make Cappie look ridiculous for going after a girl like that.
Completely unrelated anyone else think there was going to be maybe short episode arc(maybe 2-3 episodes) of a possible Rusty-Ashleigh thing going on? I thought the writers might go in that direction after the formal episode and I think it could have provided a good story line for Casey, Ashleigh, and Rusty along with some pretty humorous situations.
Another unrelated note, I for one was not a fan of Max and am glad he is gone. I liked Cappie's word for him and definitely didn't care for him. I've known guys like that and I usually clash with them because I tend to be a little more care-free, fun loving, don't take things too seriously and like to joke around and have fun.
This is a complicated thing to answer, because I think Evan’s a complicated character. I do like his character, I think he’s integral to the show, and I don’t think the show would really work without him. Do I always like him? Not really. I don’t like guys who cheat, and he didn’t just cheat of Casey, he cheated on Frannie too…and he seemed to do both things when he couldn’t talk about, face up to, or deal with the reality of his relationships. Like he himself said, when you cheat you’re basically asking for a breakup.
Is he good or evil? He’s way to gray to be either. I always feel like he’s on the outside of life looking in and for that I do feel some sympathy. He doesn’t know how to be anything but Evan Chambers, but he also doesn’t want to be Evan Chambers, and I imagine that’s quite the swords edge! Yet, he’s not afraid to use his notoriety when it works for him, and this is where his poor little rich boy routine falls flat for me. I think just getting rid of the money, won’t solve this conundrum either, it’s more systematic than that.
As for his relationship with Cappie? That wouldn’t drive my sense of respect for him, since that’s really driven by his behavior itself. I personally like the vendetta, mainly because of Cappie’s witty way of handling it, which is very entertaining to watch, and the two actors just bring the emotional subtext to it. Their friendship was interesting to see in Freshman Daze, and it’s sad to know how far apart they are from that. I think the reconciliation is going to be tenuous, because there will always be that tension between them (and I don’t mean Casey, I mean the fact they come from different worlds, and have different ambitions and expectations out of life). Either way, the two actors have great chemistry with each other, so I expect to find it very watchable!
At the end of the day, Evan has his good points and his bad points, but he’s a person of unknown (maybe even weak) character, which is what makes him a good counterpoint to Cappie who’s self-certain and has a very determined character, especially considering that Evan is a more social acceptable personality than Cappie.

when i first sarted to wach the show i liked even and casey togeather but eventually i began to LOVE cappie but i sill think evan is a good guy i mean evrybody out thier is basicly useing him cause he is rich that must be hard, so i do like evan he though he sometimes piss's me off
I agree that it must be difficult for Evan sometimes because he has difficulty knowing who likes Evan and who likes Evan Chambers, I cannot however seem to find it in me to like him. Granted he has his moments when he's okay, but for me they seem to be overshadowed by all of the wrong things he's done. Cappie, on the other hand, now Cappie has his faults as well, but he's essentially the hero in all of this. He does need to find it in him to get things together a little bit, but he is, in my opinion a much better person than Evan. I have been rooting for Cappie since i began watching Greek when it first aired and I will remain so until it ends. (God forbid it ever does, but being realistic of course...)
As for the fan fic thing, I would be game!

Since the beginning, I have been rooting for Cappie and Casey, but I have never had anything against Evan. I haven't approved of some of his actions (the cheating especially), but I have always thought Evan was basically a good guy. Like you, I sympathize with all his family pressures and people using him for his money and connections. That would stink. I really like that he and Cappie are friends again, and I wish they could bring it out in the open. As friends, I think they can bring out the best in each other. As enemies, they seem to bring out the worst. I want Evan to find someone who loves him for him, not the Chambers name.
I agree that Evan and Cappie, working together, would be a great combination. We saw this when Cappie made his presentation to the university board. Evan knows how to work people but Cappie understands life on a bigger scale than Evan, and can really get to the emotional core of an issue.

I kind of got over the whole cheating thing. I love Cappie and Evan as friends and hiding it. It's too cute. But, I still love Greek when they're hating on each other and have rude and crude jokes about the other.
