781229 Wrapup Interview
Posted Tue, 02/24/2009 - 19:05 — nycscififanOur ever-wonderful admin, Danielle, said that she would try to answer some questions about the "Search for 781229" for us, and maybe even set up an interview with the development/admin team.
Posted Fri, 02/20/2009 - 23:18 — dawn4scifi Thanks for your part in keeping the forum up. We are not mad at you just the higher ups who did this to us, and to your IT department.
● But, since they are killing this show will you answer a few questions? I know it was supposed to go for more seasons so were they going to have characters from the ARG appear on the show?
■ Is Mark's last name Cooper?
▲ Were they going to bring back Diekman? Most of us really liked him.
Thank you. I will be able to sleep at night better.

Hi Dawn and NYC,
Thanks for understanding. It's a show we all love, and we'll keep these boards open as long as you guys want to hang around (as long as it's within my power to do so).
I'll give you the answers to the best of my ability.
- The ARG was something we did here in the digital department. We weren't sure if they were going to write Cooper and 781229 into the show, but I think there was some talk of it early in the ARG development. I don't think those talks ever came to any solid plans. If you're interested, I can hunt down the producer of the ARG and get an interview about the behind-the-scenes of the ARG. Just let me know.
- Cooper was always just Cooper. He was never actually related to the on-air show. Thrasher lived on one of our desks until his sad demise. RIP Thrasher. Office life was never right for you, proud fish.
- I'm not sure about Diekman or the plans for the show, but....
Let me know about the behind-the-scenes on the ARG.
- Danielle

Post any questions you may have about the ARG. Maybe we'll get some more answers!
(I know it's not the same thing as the ARG return, but it's better than nothing!)
Here's what we have so far:
Tue, 03/03/2009 - 15:22 — nycscififan
Tell us about "Anonymous" and their blog comments - were they part of the game?
Cooper didn't seem too certain about whether or not Anonymous was a real clue - did you script this whole thing in advance or did it just evolve as you went along?
What were the "real" messages from 781229? I know the red-colored font reply was one, but were there others?
Did we miss any clues?

Did you and the IT have fun doing the ARG in general? I sure hope so. Some of us loved it!

Have NYC, Cnith or I ever talked to one of the plants? Which ones?
Sat, 02/28/2009 - 21:10 — dawn4scifi
I am almost sure I have talked to a few of them. Especially the ones who come on and say "Hey did you see.....? to get us to notice things they put up, like the one who told me 781220 wrote to me on the 781229 blog, in answer to the first message I sent to her from this forum.
Wed, 02/25/2009 - 22:55 — nycscififan
Which "Searchers" were real and which were embedded puppetmasters?
Cipher (TheSuperXero) told me he wasn't a plant and I believe him. Am I wrong?
Wed, 03/04/2009 - 12:59 — dawn4scifi
I think the two who did the Wikki were and the one who made the decode site. And was Stardust? I think not because we actually emailed each other a few times.
Wed, 02/25/2009 - 22:43 — nycscififan
Please tell us who the original madacorp blogger was and the significance of "John Smith."
Wed, 02/25/2009 - 22:42 — nycscififan
What was planned for the Stephen Trager ID on the Madacorp intranet?
What happened to the signups/job applications on Madacorp and Latnok? Were they supposed to create a mailing list for messages?
In ClueTracker 2.0 - what is the purpose of the ever-spinning glass? What's inside it?

Question: Is ABC thinking of selling KXY to another network?

I don't think those talks ever came to any solid plans. If you're interested, I can hunt down the producer of the ARG and get an interview about the behind-the-scenes of the ARG. Just let me know.
I would like that of course.
- Cooper was always just Cooper. He was never actually related to the on-air show. Thrasher lived on one of our desks until his sad demise. RIP Thrasher. Office life was never right for you, proud fish.
Bubbly Taps to Thrasher.
- I'm not sure about Diekman or the plans for the show, but.... Well, we loved him. He was so comfortable in his Geekiness
... I'm so excited to let you know that Julie has agreed to give us an exclusive interview to wrap up the story and hopefully explain all the things that are kind of left hanging. She's busy working on a pilot for another show now, so we're really lucky to have this opportunity. Thank her for us curious sorts who were going insane here. I can handle the show being gone, but I cannot handle and unsoved mystery!!
Let me know about the behind-the-scenes on the ARG.
I would love to hear about that. As you may have gathered, that was what sparked my mind even more than the show especially when it headed into the fluff vat. Ha ha.

Awww, Thrasher crossed the Rainbow Bridge?
http://781229.com/coopersblog/?cat=10
He will be missed, but I'm glad he was immortalized on Cooper's site so we could all see him.
RIP Thrasher.

Was Cooper Josh Zuckerman?

I'd settle for an interview with the developer at this point. Just to tie up the loose ends before the demise.
Let's make a list of questions, y'all.
. The documents from the Madacorp Intranet were so detailed and well-planned, were they part of the Kyle XY research?
. What was the reaction when we figured out the time-turner on the cube puzzle? lol
(I can just imagine: "Oh ****!")
. Does a staffer still owe me an apology for deleting my clues thread FOUR TIMES in one night, or was that just a "too many posts at the same time" glitch?
. Who were the actors/actresses that played the on-camera roles? Are they professionals or students?
I'll think of more later - I'm on my way out.
WHAT ELSE COULD WE ASK THE DEVELOPMENT/ADMIN TEAM ABOUT THEIR SIDE OF THE ARG?

I'd really love it if the sites were put back up for a couple of months so that we can play for just a little while longer!
I liked the game even better than the show. Shhhhh. Do not tell. In the game we never needed to fear that they would slide in teen sex junk.

I'd love to see a "making of 781229" series of videos (maybe with our favorite, Rachael on the Set?) and find out more about the actors/actresses.
I think it was a student intern project and the McBrides were really somebody's parents, lol.
C'mon Danielle - SPILL! lol

Hi Dawn! Many thanks for your efforts to keep it alive and interesting for so long.
i had so much fun--owing so much to our insanity and the passion from you and the army.
The lack of network followthrough for these seasons of args has definitely left me in a sour patch.
I must echo your notion that I can cope with the sadness of the series ending--but not knowing what was at least supposed to happen with the three ARGs will always be a stain on this cool experience.
I hope the IT folks who clearly put their passion and creativity into designing them will come forward and debrief the undiscovered story--since not one of them was executed through to any conclusion.
I am not a plant. I am a river.
Thank you very much. It was fun while it lasted.
It looks like Danielle and the IT department may answer questions for us. Phew! I hope they are allowed to since this is being killed off. I feel sorry for them, since they put so much work into this.

I was not nor am a plant either. I would have LOVED to do that kind of thing.
✝ Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things will be given unto you...✝
Not me!

So, who were the plants in the game?
Member of The Saint Foss Forever Association, Shirtless Kyle Fan Club, Amanda Admiration Society, Jumping Jamming Josh Society, Lovely Lyrical Lori Society and Nurturing Nicole & Stephen Admiration Society and I Survived the Forum Migration Society.
We were never really sure. We think that the girl who made the wiki mighta been one, and possibly Stardust.
Anonymous I'm almost sure was this hacker guy that took interest in JBG, Sloth, and most recently, me.
Well, there were probably actually a couple Anonymouses...but yeah. If Anonymous, the main one we kept talking about, WAS the hacker, then obviously he wasn't related to the ARG. What he actually in the end was, I've no idea. All I have is my own experiences with him and what I've gathered from Sloth and JBG.
Dawn and Cnith could say better than I, of course, 'cause they were more consistantly on the look out than I was...with my habit of lurking.
