80's songs that make you think of Kyle XY

So, even tho Kyle wasn't even in the pod in the 1980s, I still think it was a pretty rad era. Thus, I'm creating this thread for fun. Smiling Here's a good song that I think is a pretty good anthem for the campaign to save Kyle XY -

Matthew Wilder - Break My Stride.

How 'bout ya'll? What 80's songs remind you of Kyle or the campaign to save Kyle XY? Share away!

Here's a good one....

Fame (I Want To Live Forever) - Irene Cara

Because I think we can all agree that Kyle XY should live on. Smiling

Well Cnith, I was born in 1980... so some might say I'm more a "child of the '90's" as that's when I really became aware of the world around me. However, my dad sure did some rockin' out when I was little... so those songs have really stuck with me! Big smile

My mom wasn't so hip. She was into classical music. BLEH! Sticking out tongue

Oh, PLEASE don't knock classical music. It speaks to my soul!!!!! I am a firm believer that there is something good, perhaps great, in all genres of music. Classical falls into the "great" category IMO.

oh sure. It's great. Like Novocaine... Good for sleeping... not much else.

edit: Maybe you are high strung. See, I'm already mellow. I need music to wake me... classical just numbs and puts me to sleep.

I beg to differ. Not about whether or not I'm high strung (I am). I think that classical music can be VERY invigorating, depending on the tempo. Some of it is impossible for me to listen to if I'm trying to unwind.

invigorating and classical music is like saying water is dry...

Send me a sample... I might believe you. All the classical I've listened to is boring as hell and very sleep inducing. Even the crescendos are not enough to wake me up.

I find this one to be invigorating...

looks like we'll have to agree to disagree, which is cool by me. if everyone agreed on everything, the world would be quite boring. Wink

Is that on youtube or somewhere I can listen to it? I'm not going to go buy a record just for one song... (that I might hate)

the bumble bee dance song is invigorating to you? Wow... I wonder what Rock would do to you. Blow your brains out no doubt...

Kid played this song in band. She's a flute player. Anyway, yeah, sleep inducing...

So if this is as invigorating as you get, you are right. We will agree to disagree.

By "rock" do you mean "rock & roll?" Um, I was raised on the stuff. Still love it, as well as many other genres of music. Believe it or not, I'm actually "hip enough" to have seen some of the world's best DJs throw down at a club or two in my day (Aphrodite, PVD, Oakenfold, Donald Glaude... many, many, MANY more).

I guess my point is two-fold. 1 - there is merit in any kind of music. 2 - I personally find that some classical songs can really wake me up and get me going. Perhaps not as invigorating as Aphrodite's Urban Jungle (drool), but invigorating in their own right. Even tho I'm not a Death Metal fan, I'm not gonna tell a fan of it how much it [filtered word].

~ Forever a Fan of the Tub!!!!

Cnith's picture

OK, I can understand that.

I just happen to speak my mind. Most people aren't so willing. What you have to understand is that when I say it [filtered word]... I mean it [filtered word] for ME... If you're a fan, obviously it doesn't suck for you, so it shouldn't matter what I say. It's like people who told me Madonna was a (w) [filtered word] and I shouldn't listen to her. I was her biggest fan so I didn't care what they said. She was a great role model as far as I was concerned. She was just a little nuts... and who on earth isn't? She just had the (b) alls to show it to the world.

In other news... I can hang with most music. There are a few exceptions... classical and rap and super heavy metal I have low tolerance for... Some stuff I like, most I do not. (and by super heavy metal I mean bang your head til it falls off stuff... not fun...)

I'm cool with speaking your mind. My husband ALWAYS speaks his mind. Wink However, I'm a believer that one can speak their mind without offending others. With the tone of your previous posts, I felt as if you were either calling my music knowledge into question or just plain doggin' music that a like, neither of which is cool.

If something (whether it be classical music or anything else) "[filtered word] to you" then that's how you should state it. I don't really love all kinds of jazz, but that doesn't mean I'm not willing to sit in a jazz club and try to figure out why other people find it appealing. Additionally, if I were to discuss jazz with a jazz lover, I'd choose my words carefully. Smiling

As for my musical tastes, they're really all over the map. My husband owns a DJ business, so our house is really quite full of all kinds of music. As I previously stated, I think that each kind of music has it's own great qualities, as do the fans of that music.

So, as we stated forever ago, we'll agree to disagree on this genre. Now, do you have an '80's song to add??? Big smile

aye... you're female. That explains much. I'm supposed to be one but really aren't... I don't have what you people (aka normal females) call tact?! Ie. choosing words to not offend someone. If I did that I wouldn't be able to say jack anything. You see, I was missing...my guess is I was sleeping...the day they passed out many female traits. When my turn came around there were only man traits left... off I got sent and here I am.

I am harsh, speak my mind, don't give a hoot if you're offended by something so simple as 'X music [filtered word]' because it's ridiculous to be so offended. I can understand if I said YOU suck...or some racist comment or something seriously atrocious. Music taste? not a biggie... As you can see, I don't worry about much.

I am not into PC. I do not fret over much. I can't understand why people get so high up and panty twisted in this forum over little things. I think, or rather, wonder... why people get so stung by what I say. I don't even know why they get riled up over things that don't ring true to THEM. Which leads me to believe it must ring true if they care that much.

For example. If you said I think pop music [filtered word], I'd say OK... sure. Some of it does. Some of it is downright gay (which for a CA person just means it's odd/strange/bad. It has nothing to do with homosexuals.)

Would I be offended? No. Would I even care if you thought it sucked? again, No. WOuld I get all defensive? nope. I just don't care that much. That's how you feel, great. More power to you. You think it [filtered word]. I don't so your statemetns mean nothign to me. Did that make sense?

Now if you said, I'm going to go molest a bunch of children then boil a puppy, damn right I'm going to be upset. But you don't and you most likely wouldn't... I guess what I'm saying is chillax. There are worse things to worry about than someone else thinking classical music [filtered word] or that you thought they said you don't know music.

As for your jazz thing? Sure, if I want to torture myself I could go to a jazz thing... but if I was going to endurse such pain I'd poke my eyes out instead... No reason to leave home.

It's not that I think people who love Jazz suck...I'm sure they don't. They just have different tastes than I. Chances are we'd be acquaintances and not much more. Kind of like me and people who drink. I don't want to know what they find appealing in drinking or jazz music...I find there are better things to waste my time on. (by waste I mean spend time doing something I don't like) For example, finding out what the HECK is so exciting about Geological finds. I think geology is OK but nothing to throw parties over... So I can see myself wasting time figuring that out... at least it's a science. See, I'm more intellectual in the sense that to me music is background. You either like it or you don't. Same with TV shows.

I heard people say Kyle XY [filtered word]. So what? It doesn't to me and that's all that matters...

Don't try to teach me female manners... it [filtered word]. My brain doesn't work feminine... Believe me, others have tried. It'd be like teaching your husband how to file and paint his nails to a 'french manicure' in one day.
There's nothing wrong with you, it's the other party that just doesn't get it.

An 80's song... let's see... what can I pull up that's retro...hella retro.. ooh, I know... hungry like the wolf... Duran Duran... I think that was 80's...

How does it relate to Kyle? Well, to keep it PG... it means I'm hungry for the show like that. Wink

I was alive but not really conscious in the 80's. I will always think of Sober as my Kyle song. (the P!nk song that recently came out.)

My party is definitely over. Big cry

Okay - even tho I said "80's songs" - I'm listening to my own playlist and Jason Mraz "I'm Yours" is on... makes me think of my dedication to the show.

"I'll be giving it my best test
Nothing's going to stop me but divine intervention
I reckon it's again my turn to win some or learn some"

Sheesh, I'm a dorkengoofer. Blush
