we're doing something different
Kyle Xy more then a show!!!!! kind of an impractical idea!!
Posted Sun, 10/25/2009 - 18:25 — andyjI always thought of Kyle Xy as much more than just a show. I was looking through some the graphics and I noticed the fans protesting. It will show abc family that we r no where near done yet ,it might also generate some media attention, and I dont think fans of shows in the past have ever something like that. I was thinking outside abc studios in Burbank. We could pledge our support for long enough to get the point across. I havent done any research on this and I understand its not going to be easy to arrange. PLEASE any feedback !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to do this at the begining of December. Its going to be difficult to do it on a weekday. i dont know how its possible. Do abc execs work on Saturday. Thats the best day. Any suggestions as for when?
Thank you Andy for your continued determination! I'll have to get back to you though about the date....

We dont have Beth on KyleXY.nets' support. I think she saw it as a joke. I tried to persuade her the best i could. She told me, through pm, that its better to work from the inside out and she told me not to get arrested. i thanked her for responding and told her that it is a good idea to work from the inside out. I never said i wouldn't follow through on the idea. Being public is an alternative that might SAVE KYLE XY being radical and unexpected may be a good thing. i have hope this could
I don't see why she thinks that
.... I mean, if the more traditional ways are all we need then we would have the show back on the air by now. We won't get arrested (as long as we are civil... it's our constitutional RIGHT to protest). If this is entirely successful then we help spread awareness and/or build more support for our cause (obviously this won't be the magic bullet, but nothing is.... it's the culmination of everything we do to save the show that demonstrates why it should be re-aired). At worse, It has little to no effect. SO WHAT?! We dust ourselves off and say "hey, at least we tried... ok, didn't work. What's the next idea?" It's that simple. We would have a better chance if we have more support....I don't see why she is reluctant. Can anyone explain it to me?
Also, who is Beth? I don't mean that sarcastically, I really don't know who she is. Why is her support important (I'm assuming the answer to my "who is she" would shed light on why she is important, so feel free to leave this last question out if it's obvious...). Also, last note, I swear, Why can't we do both? No one is saying that we should change everything we are doing... just add something that we overlooked.

i totally and completly agree with u! Beth is the founder of Kyle xy.net so pretty much its her site and if i were to post it on the site she could delete it. i tried to that it just dissapeared like that.
I'll try talking to her.... I'll send her a PM tomorrow.

that might help. she will realize im not just insane if someone else is behind me.
don't worry, I'm behind the idea 100%. I'll probably make a video about this campaign (a "protest video" that should be fun). We need to iron out some details.... but it should be interesting. Talking about videos, have you seen my video for Moon's/Tibby's campaign???

Well, it's a little complicated (although, not really.... you have to go through a German proxy to view it because one of the audio clips is restricted in the U.S).
here is the link to all the information you need (It really is just two easy steps....)

yes i am still considering doing this but before i went to New Jersey i pmed beth and i recently read her reply she told me that its a better idea to go from the inside out and she told me to not get arrested(which if a protest is conducted propely dosent happen) so we dont have kylexy.net on our side but i think we can do this! and im really
glad u guys like the idea!
Bump! This can be a good idea too! I hope it can be carried out
I’ve made another video (I couldn’t start on videos for other campaigns because I have something in my mind that I need to say!!!!)…. So I said it in the video.
Please understand, the video is NOT Recommended For Children (it has a Mature Theme) because it contains language that may be disturbing or incomprehensible to minors. In other words, the video is nothing but an outlet that contains coarse language and crude content so that I may express what I feel like saying to the executives at ABC Family that canceled Kyle XY.
If you are of age (what’s the recommended age for mature videos? 17?) then go to youtube and type: “Kyle XY and ABC Family” on the search bar. [Type WITH the quotes]
However, and I can’t stress this enough, if you have issues with profanity, DO NOT look at the video! Don’t complain that the video is “inappropriate!” I feel that I’ve exercised all due diligence to avoid any of these comments… so if you easily get offended, please exercise some restraint and don’t watch the video (for all you other viewers…. Enjoy!)
Also, for those who haven’t seen the previous video (or for those who wish to see it again), please type: “Why YOU should save Kyle XY” [either with or without quotes…. This one makes no difference. My Id is painintheauss on Youtube (just in case you have trouble finding the videos)]. And, you may see this posted on a lot of different threads... I want to maximize exposure, please forgive the Inconvenience.

Julie Plec leaves the show for Vampire Dairies. We lose Kyle and Amanda for vampires?
Are you still thinking about doing this Andy? I could help you if you wish, but I can't spearhead this (I live in Texas).

At least 50 people would be okay.
Any less would kinda be pointless.
If I lived over there I would be in but if you are serious about it let me know I will spread the info across my kyle xy contacts.
I love Kyle XY!
Kylanda Forever!
I wouldn't say pointless.... It's true that the more people you have the better it is, but as long as there are a handful of people there actively protesting (not to become fixated on a number, but i'll say more than 10), then we are successful. I know that ten people wont change any executives minds, but we need to start with something.... this may spread like wildfire if (by chance) this gets picked up by the news or if someone with some sort of power/authority in the business looks at the pamphlets/leaflets and agrees with us. It is a small step, that is true, but it's still a step in the right direction. I say try this! Try your best! I still live in Texas, but I may be in California soon enough to help you (should you want to meet and discuss the logistics of protesting personally).
Keep me informed,
TX

Something else to think about:
The Sunday newspaper is the most-read edition, while Saturday’s is the least-read. A Saturday protest will likely be covered in the Sunday newspaper, which will be read by a larger audience, while coverage of a Friday (or other weekday) protest will appear in Saturday’s newspaper and reach a smaller audience. It's up to you and the other protesters, but I feel that a weekday protest will have more effect (why should someone protest in front of an empty building on a weekend? But If you decide, you can do both).
Also, make signs and posters to make it obvious why you are protesting. The text on the posters should just be a few words, and the font should be large and bold, so that a pedestrian across the street can read it easily. Print fliers that you can distribute to people who want more information about the issue. Prepare a press kit to hand out to reporters. The press kit should be a folder that contains your press release, any literature that you are handing out at the protest, and general information about your organization (the "save Kyle XY" websites...be sure to at least list kylexy(dot)net ). Prepare yourself to make a statement to the media and to answer questions about why you are protesting.
BRING VIDEO!!!!! everyone loves to watch (hardly anyone likes to read unless you get their attention). And try to get the media to come (easier said than done, I know, but do all you can)

Sorry Andy, I haven't commented on this yet. This is what I think:
1) Don't get overwhelmed at the thought of organizing a protest. It's a pretty simple process. If you can show up somewhere on time and prepare some simple materials, then you definitely have what it takes to organize an effective demonstration; just show up with signs and leaflets.
2) Decide on a time for the protest (you already have the place). Just try to schedule your protest on a weekday during business hours when you have the best chance of being seen.
3) Publicize your event!!!! spread it over facebook, myspace, twitter, kylexy(dot)net, here, write letters to newspaper editors (especially at college campuses), make a video for youtube, mdallas(dot)net, try the KTLA website, radio stations, etc. etc.
4) Assign people tasks that they are comfortable with. Some people may be great at handing out leaflets and engaging passersby in discussion, while others would prefer to just stand quietly and hold a sign. It is important that everyone has something that they are responsible for, so that all of your participants can feel like they are an important part of something larger.
5) Be prepared, cops may show up. Most businesses don't like protesters standing in front of their stores, and they will often call the police on you. Just remember that it is your constitutional right to protest in public areas. Usually, the police will be well aware of this and will just stick around long enough to make sure everything is peaceful, and then will be on their way. As the leader of the protest, be prepared to answer basic questions such as why you are there and how long you plan to stay. As long as you know your rights and stay calm, there is no reason to fear the police at your protest.
6) You may want to check with the city to see if you need a permit. In almost every case you don't (It is your first amendment right). However, if you are planning to use "amplified sound equipment" (a bullhorn or a microphone) or if you expect more than 25 people, you should check with the city first. Usually, a quick phone call to city hall or the local police will be all it takes to determine if you'll need a permit for your event.
Just make sure you have plenty of materials, including (BIG and attractive) signs and leaflets. You can do it, it's not an impractical idea.... all you need is to do the steps above.
Hope this helps! Also, keep me informed (PM me on kylexy(dot)net), I'll help you all I can from Texas (who knows, I may be in California when you have the protest, I would love to participate
)

THANK YOU SO MUCH for the advice on conducting a protest. And if the idea is carried through i so hope u can make it! but we dont have kyle xy.net on our side ill try to persuade Beth. so if any one has any ideas on how to do that it would be awesome!!! if the cops show up ill try not to get too nervous! protesting is a right!! ill have my friends help make the signs and leaflets. one's an aspiring artist. and thanks for calling my idea practical!
ANY FEEDBACK
IS THERE ANYWAY WE CAN STAGE A PROTEST TO GET THE NEWS TO COVER IT, AND SHOW ABC WE'RE NOT STOPPING UNTIL WE GET IT BACK.
tyler paice
ANY FEEDBACK
Any ideas on how to organize the protest would be awesome!!
if u could help spread the word that would help even more then being at the protest! And thanks for liking the idea sonya xx
I have been wanting to do that but I do not live anywhere close to their studios. But I think that's just the spark we need and wish I could be a part of the protest.
thats the problem ! but i know how to target some fans! There is a KTLA website where i could post the idea ofcourse facebook and twitter(damn that 128 charecter limit) i know some Kyle Xy fans who would consider doing it. With enough promotion we might be able to generate a few fans. is there an abc or abc family studios in New York if so there could be 2 protests on the same day that will help ! and thank you for agreeing
Let stations in San Diego know too. They are close enough to join you.
