MY KYLE DOLL
Posted Tue, 01/06/2009 - 15:16 — Sunshine2I fell in love with the innocence of "Kyle", and besides Matt Dallas having a very unique face, I wanted to capture that in something a bit more intimate than a photo. (I thank you very much Matt, for the personally autographed photo 2 years ago, and for keeping my photo on your website!!)
I enjoy collecting OOAK celebrity dolls, so in 2007, after the first season of 'Kyle XY' ended, I had one custom-made of Matt as "Kyle" for my own personal collection. When I saw the Kyle XY Comic-Con Panel Video here, I was happily surprised to hear Matt mention wanting a doll!! (I've been thinking he'd find a doll a bit silly)
Now that I know better, I hope to give him the doll at the 2009 Comic-Con!

Hi everybody! I've got a lot of catching-up to do! Lovematt101, I had 2 Kyle dolls made, and I gave one to Matt. It's good to see the forum still going, but I can't find any reference to Kyle XY on the home page.

Yes, Matt is VERY nice, he seems to have absolutely no attitude, not conceited at all, very attentive and affectionate. He looks you straight in the eye when he talks to you and he always touches you and puts his arm around you while he speaks. He's not vulgar in his speech ( no cursing every other word) which I love! To me he's very tall (I'm 5'5") and his personality is so wonderfully overwhelming, he glows! To hear him talk about himself; I believe he doesn't have the slightest idea how much beauty, charm and magnetism he possesses.
WOW! he sounds awesome. It is good to know that he is a nice person. In today's Hollywood (if you know what I mean), there does not seem to be that many decent young actors as far as how they portray themselves in publc and some even on screen. I was never one to go on any boards or even the internet (I work all day with computers) until KYLE XY was cancelled and I started on this board and as you can see am still here. I asked the question for several reasons. Matt portrayed KYLE as a loving, caring and kind character, someone who went out of his way for the people in his life. In televison today we don't see many family oriented shows or for that matter characters who are good people. So I wanted to know how much of Matt's personality may be like his character KYLE. Every since KYLE XY was cancelled there has been some negative stuff on the internet about MATT, which I think is just not right. I knew you had meet him so I thought I would ask. Thank you for being so kind as to answer my question Sunshine.

I went to a doll show a few weeks ago and picked up 3 outfits for my Kyle doll that resembled those he wore in a few episodes of Kyle XY. "I've Had The Time of My Life" was one of my favorites...
Crazy cool, Sunshine! Who made the tux? looks exactly like the one he wore in the show.
Hi, HydnSeek! The tux is part of the Robert Tonner Collection. Robert Tonner is a doll and fashion designer. He used to work for Bill Blass and then ventured out on his own 10 years ago and now he's one of the most popular doll designers in the US. His doll outfits are so hard to find because he only produces a limited number each year. It was pure luck that I found some at the show like Matt wore on Kyle XY!
Yeah, I kinda figured you couldn't get doll clothes like that at Toys R Us!! He looks TOO FRESH. What are the other 2 outfits you got?
I also found an outfit like the one he wore in the pilot episode, blue drawstring pants and t-shirt, and the outfit from the "Kyle Got Game" episode, complete with a basketball! I almost feel 12 years old again, playing with my doll and dressing him up! He hardly ever stays on his display stand!

Just read over on kylexydotnet that Sunshine (Alli) went to the Babysitter Wanted Premiere and gave Matt the doll!! SO COOL!! They have some awesome pics from Kxyfan over there of Matt getting his first look at the doll. Man, he looked happy! She also got to party with him after the movie! Hey, Sunshine, come tell us about it! Do you have anymore pics?

Sure, HydnSeek! First...you choose how you want your doll's face to look: his expression, if he's smiling or not,etc. Then, you find the photos that closely resembles what you want. I chose stills from season 1, episode 8 "Memory Serves". You'll need several: a front view, a side view, 2 close-ups.
Secondly, you'll need to decide what type of body you want. There are the classic Barbie-type with moveable arms, legs, and bendable knees. There's the Sybarite ball-jointed kind, and there's the 10, 14, 20, and 36-point articulated body type. I chose the 14-point. Now you have to decide what height you want: 8, 12, 17, or 22-inch. My "Kyle" is 17-inches. The height is important because it will determine the size head you'll need. The larger the head, the more expensive the sculpt. Also, you must purchase the body first and ship it to the sculptor so they will know what type of neck joint is needed before they can attach the completed head to the body.
Next... the company that supplies the body usually offers clothing to fit the various sizes, or you can have the clothing custom-made. My two boys wear outfits from the Robert Tonner collection.
When the doll is completed and returned to you, it will be unpainted. Now you have to have a doll painting artist to do the face and hair.
The whole process takes about 3-4 months.
I want a full sized Matt Doll...better yet just give me the real thing to play with.

My friend (who's gay) once said we should strap him (Matt) and then we can both play... to which I said yeah, but which one of us would he like?! We don't know... We don't care... but it was fun to dream, wasn't it? lol.
I protested though because he wanted Matt to shave his face and I said he was fine the way he was. I don't mind his fuzzy look.

That's too bad you couldn't recognize the doll as "Kyle". I think the sculptor did an excellent job, considering they only had a photograph of "Kyle" to work with! (I'm sure Matt will
) Maybe also it's the way the artist has them dressed. When I display them, they're dressed in a t-shirt, a grey hoodie, jeans, socks and brown shoes. He wears a backpack with a laptop and cell phone inside.
When Matt said "I think we need a doll", I almost fell out of my chair!! It's as if he was reading my mind! Here I was, for the past 2 years, embarrassed to tell Matt about my dolls thinking he would think they're silly!
The boys were actually made by 3 different companies:
*Head sculptor...$795. each
*14-pt. articulated body with modification(no belly-button) & designer outfit...$190. each
*Face and hair painted by artist...$150. each
Over the years, I've collected many of my favorite OOAK (One-Of-A-Kind) celebrity dolls, but "Kyle" is my favorite!!
You couldn't find more Kyle pics? There's tons of Matt pics though...there has been ever since he exploded on Kyle...(season 1.) But out of PURE curiousity, which picture did you give him because I don't remember that expression on any promo pics.
You must be loaded... I could never see myself spending that much on a doll, even if I am obsessed. Then again 1200 would pay a TON of bills...not to mention actually get me a decent car to get me to work and kid's school and back. No more top ramen! wow... that'd be nice...

BestgramsII: I went to the site you found my photos on and it seems like someone there is using my Kyle doll picture as their avator or signature! That's great! I'm hoping my doll will inspire ABC Family and Disney to put out a whole line of dolls of the Kyle XY cast. It's very unlikely that'll happen with the ratings the way they are, but you never know!!

I've met him. This doll, though a VERY GOOD IDEA overall, doesn't look enough like Matt to convince me that it's him. (No offense meant, it's a lookalike doll-thing. If someone didn't come out and say the doll was supposed to be of him, I would have originally thought it was somebody else.) (No, not Hoff either, LOL)
Cnith's right about the eyebrows, they're not thick enough. And the eyes aren't innocent enough looking. They need to be open wider. His eyes in real life are not pure green either. There IS some blue but very light blue gray and he's missing the hazel. They change color depending on light and mood. The lips are too thick, too pointy on top and look a tad chapped. But the CONCEPT OF A DOLL is good.
I'm the person that made the Kyle XY Action Figure request at Comic Con in the first place. Matt was reacting to that request. He's a sweetie. Thank you Sunshine2 for proving that a doll CAN be made of him. BTW, Who did you go to for manufacture? ((hugs Sunshine2))

That's right! you got to see him in person... I just have him burned into my brain from pictures. And the eye shot which gave me a head spin...
I have to disagree with you, even though you met the man in person... his eyes are a light green... a sage of sorts... he might have blue in them, I can't really tell from the shots, but for the most part they're green. He himself said they were green and was quite adamant about it. He would know of all of us...
I agree with you that when she first posted about it I didn't know it was him because to me it doesn't look anything like him but others here disagreed with me so I backed off. Then again my monitor is old so to me his eyes look brown on here, which is totally wrong. The face shape however is not Matt's and neither is the nose... there's a slight ridge under and between the nostrils... not very attractive on a doll though I suppose... I don't like the expression, it looks smug to me but to everyone else it seems confused... So who knows. It could be my monitor.
Anyway, I like the idea that she took initiative to MAKE the thing so I give her more kudos for that than the actuall appearance of the doll.
