Online series? / OT Chat Thread
Posted Thu, 07/02/2009 - 16:16 — THEbest794OKay so I have been doing a lot of thinking lately about Kyle XY, and when I was looking at the new video player all of a sudden it hit me: what if ABC Family brought Kyle XY back as an online series? The show clearly has a large and devoted online fanbase as shown by this message board and the amount of people constantly viewing Kyle videos. Therefore, Kyle could be brought back as an online show for a season or two. It doesn't have to be "prefect" so production costs can be cut, but as long as the story is there and fans can get some closure, I think this would be the best idea. A weekly dose of Kyle is what we need so why not just do it in online form? What do you guys think of this idea?
They could make it so we'd have to pay to see it. I'd pay. All they would need to do is link the new videoplayer to paypal and we could buy the episodes online securely. I think eventually this will happen at all of the sites, when the networks realize they don't have to give episodes away for free.
I wouldn't want to pay to see it online. I would rather just buy a DVD. That's why I never purchase any shows from iTunes.

I respectfully disagree. An online show with lower quality isn't my idea of a good compromise. The lower quality part kills it. I'm not sure the network would go for it because it probably wouldn't make much profit. The actors wouldn't be able to take a pay cut either. So, in my opinion, there are too many strikes against it.
I'm not saying low quality though, but it doesn't have to have all the expensive effects. As long as the story is there and there are effects, I say they should do it. And if the actors need money then they should do a multi-night movie event, just as they have done with Samurai Girl.

Online series is better than no series, but the quality would drop though.
Yes it would. But as you said it is better than no series. Just as long as it doesn't drop too much I'm ok with it.

That would be great for us but how would the cast feel? Would they see it as a demotion or a way to get thier gig back?
It's not really a demotion, they would still be on the show. At least they have some form of work.

While i like that idea for closure, it wouldn't be the same. That'd be better than nothing, though

Well,that's a great idea,but..what if the internet doesn't work,and not everyone has internet......Do you really think ABCF would be willing to do that?
I think if enough people want it they might. Both Roommates and Sophie aired online new episodes after they stopped airing on TV. Also their show Slacker Cats aired new episodes online. So why not Kyle XY? ABC Family is trying to improve their site, so I don't think the internet not working is a problem. Plus most people do have internet, especially if they watch Kyle XY considering Kyle is a cable show. The 2 aren't related but its definitely likely. As long as they promote it someway it could become popular.

Same here, I would like that more than a TV movie because this can give us more info than a movie can. But if a movie is what I have to settle for it will do. I just won't settle for nothing

Lol who doesn't! I think that anyone who has watched the show wants it back. The network is so unreasonable. Who knows, maybe now that SciFi is turning into Syfy, they will accept our pleas to air Kyle?
