OT: "CW picks up 'Vampire Diaries' Executive producer and writer: Julie Plec of Kyle XY"
Posted Fri, 02/06/2009 - 09:38 — leo1234jI was visiting the imdb forums and noticed that an article had been posted earlier today with mentions of Kyle XY and it was^^ pretty much that same scenario that the title says. The producer of Kyle XY is going to be writing for a new show on the CW, does this mean Kyle XY has hope on CW if she wishes to give her input to move the tub to another network??
Thoughts?
I wonder if Julie Plec would put in a good word for Matt Dallas and have him star in this new series. He'd make a sexy vampire.
Of course I'd rather continue him playing Kyle for more years, but just throwing out that possibility....

Whoa, we shouldn't totally be blaming Twilight. I think they do really well with promoting the franchise, and that's how there are so many fans. Aren't there any Twilight fans who happen to be Kyle XY fans as well? I read Twilight. The book is far much better than the movie of course. I think there are many Twilight fans who are into Kyle...
Keep in mind, Twilight has a HUGE FAN BASE.
As for Julie Plec, I don't know what she's doing. Is she possibly working for a new show because Kyle XY is getting canceled? I guess since the show would end, she has to find another show to replace or write about.
If I think about it the other way around, I do hope she can pitch Kyle XY to CW...
However, "vampires" are such a pop culture these days. I'm afraid if Kyle XY gets switched to CW and it might compete with this new vampire show.
Bloodthirsty vampires or a bellybutton lacking science experiment? I don't know...what would the fans or audience pick?
To me, I'm getting sick of vampires...o_O It's the same old boring thing, sorry, it just is. On the other hand, Kyle is something far different besides the supernatural powers

you blame twilight for what?! Isn't that where Charmed is? on the CW? If anything, blame that show. It was on long before Twilight... Also Buffy the vampire slayer was on there...so blame that one actually more than Charmed...
hell, does it matter? Twilight was probably a spin off idea from one of those shows anyway... who knows... who cares...
If we could get Kyle XY on ANY network, I'll be grateful...even if it is the dreaded CW.

I think Amber meant that Twilight recently started a new hype around vampires which makes it easier for vampires show to get aired right now and undermines a bit Kyle XY's chances to get picked up

Yeah we just need to continue to get more people on our side.
Well, the cast and staff do have to make a living. Unless she's getting severance of some sort, she has to worry about food and shelter, just like the rest of us. The job market's bad, so you have to move fast and take what you can get.
You can't fault her for looking and if it's a good opportunity, good luck to her then.
I would think that if the show were picked up by another network, they probably would have replaced her anyway. She wasn't one of the show's creators, they left a long time ago, she was the head writer who controlled the story lines.
Frankly, I could have done without a few of the story lines ('nuff said) so if she was the person trying to turn Kyle XY into a show for that elusive "14-29, female" market, it didn't work. Maybe it is time for some "new blood." Someone who will take the show back to its roots and remove the brassy hair dye that was added by ABC Family's efforts to reach teens/young women.

True. Unfortunately the show is also going to be gone. I would love to have seen it focus on the intelligent aspects. We have enough unwholesome shows with "fingers in their dimples."

I do not think this bodes well for the campaign. My thoughts were that the more actors/producers/writers who haven't signed on for other projects the better chance we would have. Julie Plec is a main writer for the show isn't she? Also who holds the rights to the Kyle xy show?

ABC Family there goal now is to attract girl viewers ages 14-29 and I guess that's why Secret Life is very successful, maybe it would best benefit the show to move to a more serious, sci-fi-ish network that more viewers will accept the whole mystery/drama/action/sci-fi genres. Minus some of the smut of course.

Yeah just read about it as well. It [filtered word]. Picking up some stupid vampire story instead of Kyle XY or say a Jessi XX spinoff. This would be so much better. I really hope she influences them. Maybe she should start a camapgin to her

Someone on here posted a thread how the writers of Kyle XY are backing us and willing to support our fight to bring Kyle XY back. Things are picking up slowly, if we continue to fight we very well might succeed =]
