Dear Ms. Juergens,

I am writing on behalf of ABC Family’s Lincoln Heights. Thousands of devoted Lincoln Height’s fans are sadly disappointed and disheartened with Lincoln Heights Programming Issues. You’ve sold your show to us but the promotional efforts are minimal. Together, we are a very loyal and passionate community of followers and we are rallying for increased promotional and advertising efforts. We support our beloved show and hope the network will promote Lincoln Heights with the same intensity and volume as it does with other ratings giants such as Secret Life of the American Teenager. Please consider increased promotion with additional episode coverage and a shortened seasonal hiatus. We offer our support for she show and hope to help shape television programming by increasing series awareness and recruiting new viewers. Lincoln Heights is a breakout hit with steadily increasing ratings and a fast growing fan base. It has the potential to be so much more with additional advertising and promotion.

As fans, we are one hundred percent vested in the show and its characters. Lincoln Heights is the exact kind of programming we need and expect from the ABC Family Network. It is a quality family based program we have all come to know and love. An emotional attachment for the characters has developed and we have been drawn into the story line. We feel like we know each and every character personally. We are nothing if not loyal followers. The ABC Family website blog and message board is a central location for Lincoln Height’s followers. We have all worked to rejuvenate the shows popularity and influence viewers via social networks such as Twitter, Facebook and simple word of mouth. As a television network, we understand that ABC Family is primarily concerned with Nielsen Ratings projection of total viewers. However, other media outlets should be considered in your projection. We are a very diverse group and we watch television very differently from years ago. Many viewers aren’t sitting in front of a television to watch. They’re utilizing technology such as iTunes, on-line streaming videos and other on-demand video features. Our expectations for the show are very high but with each passing season our hopes are suppressed with minimal network promotion.

While we understand that our devotion alone may not be grounds for program changes, we ask that you please consider expanding/broadening the series run time and resurrecting the show from hiatus more frequently. Lincoln Height’s yearly hiatus is torture. Viewers are taken from one extreme to the next. We sustain on ten small episodes a year and then we are put through a very uncomfortable yearly wait. Although the show’s popularity and ratings have increased with each season, we feel some viewers are lost during the exceptionally long seasonal hiatus. Many viewers don’t know when the show is returning or they cannot remember what happened during the previous season. In comparison to ABC Family’s Secret Life of the American Teenager and Greek, Lincoln Heights has the longest seasonal departure and the smallest number of episodes. These are all phenomenal shows and they deserve all of the credits they have received but unlike Lincoln Heights, these series are marketed aggressively, effectively and creatively with DVD videos, a short two – three month hiatus, magazine advertisements and double the amount of viewing episodes. Lincoln Height’s viewers have anxiously and patiently awaited the sale of DVDs but after four years we are still waiting. It’s very unfortunate to see more viewers become weary and anxious with programming/promotional issues. We believe in this show and want to see it expand and grow within the network.

Of course, viewer demographics and series ratings play an important role in television broadcasting but Lincoln Heights is steadily climbing in network ratings. Viewers have crossed demographic boundaries. It’s refreshing to see young male and female teenagers from various race groups as well as mature adult followers. We recognize that ABC Family is known for quality family based programs and you have held true to your roots with Lincoln Heights in the network lineup. Lincoln Heights has been a part of ABC Family programming for 4 years now and we would love to be a part of season five and all subsequent seasons. You have an unparalleled gem of a show in Lincoln Heights and you also have some very loyal followers. We applaud you for introducing a hit family drama. Thank you for providing us with such an entertaining, genuine show. We simply want to see more of what you have to offer. Lincoln Heights is bursting at the seams with potential. We know the network will continue to amaze us every Monday night and we’ll do our best to show up. We’d love to see more.
