So, sometimes TV DOES reflect reality

Very "Make It Or Break It" -esque plot thread playing out in the real world of gymnastics, right now.

When I first watched "Make It Of Break It" I laughed at the lack of realism in the whole Emily Kmetko storyline, but here's a real-life Emily Kmetko, and it's a fantastic story:

Kayla Williams, a 16 year old gymnast from West Virginia who was completely unknown last year, has risen to the top of the sport since Nationals were held in August. Early this season, she was a Level 10, and there are some well-known Level 10s out there, but Kayla Williams wasn't one of them. True, true, as a Level 10 Kayla Williams was very far beyond the level Emily Kmetko was presumably at, but she was not an Elite until this past summer. This summer, she qualified through to the Elite level and qualified to Nationals. At Nationals, she put herself firmly in place as one of the best vaulters in the country and made the National Team, and was invited to the World team selection camp in Texas where she was selected as one of four gymnasts to represent the USA at the World Championships in London.

Last week in London, Kayla won ***THE GOLD MEDAL*** in vault. World champion!

Isn't that cool, to go from total unknown Level 10 to WORLD CHAMPION in a couple of months?

That's amazing. Good for her (:

Emily: Are those for me?
Damon: No, I just carry them around with me everywhere. You know, aromatherapy?
