My 6yr old is a great kid, very smart...but the whinning drives me crazy and he does a lot to be defiant at home and at school when he does not get his way. We are a blended family-so I try to get my ex to enforce the same rules, punishment, etc..in his home also when my son is there. We take away priviledges, toys etc..to try to get this under control. With school just going back in session...within the first 2 weeks I am already receiving notes and phone calls from his teacher regarding his behavior. Not paying attention, being disruptive. He has no issues doing his school work. It is embarrassing, and I know my son can have better behavior and LISTEN.

I am just having trouble getting through to him and getting his behavior consistent. I have talked, yelled and currently giving him the "silent treatment"! I feel like I am failing and it is killing me! Any help, and/or adivce would be greatly appreciated! I don't want people thinking I am a lousy parent..nor do I want them thinking my kid is a brat!!
