My son just told me tonight at dinner that Ruby & the Rockits is cancelled. I think it should be resurrected.
It's a good show the way it is. What's wrong with it??? No sex, no foul language??? I'm glad it doesn't. I preview shows to see if they are worthy of showing my m-i-l. She has Alzheimer's and she can't stand anything with violence in it. I'm the primary caregiver. I'm getting tired of watching what they have on TV Land and GSN. I thought when the show returned for a new season, I could have her watch it with us. It is a funny show. What were TPTB thinking when they decided to cancel it?

If you only now found out the show was canceled, then you obviously didn't follow news of the show.
You obviously felt it was fine to show your MIL a father wanting to have sex with the daughter's teacher or a girl stealing a car to pick up her drunken cousin at a party. If it's no violence you want there are many other shows on ABC Family you can watch where no one gets murdered or faces any violence!
Ruby's ratings were below 1 million viewers! That's death to ANY TV show on ANY channel. A lot of people watched in the beginning, but they didn't like it and stopped watching. Those are the facts. Accept them.

Even if they cannot wrap things up nicely they will still call it a series finale not a season finale if the show is ending. Kyle XY had a crappy ending it wasn't an expected end of the show but it was still advertised as the series finale. I don't believe that there are people out there in a state of denial about this. I think the weak point of the show was David Cassidy. People around here act like he has millions of fans. WHERE ARE THEY? Under a million watched this thing. I admire Patrick Cassidy's understated acting. This was a Family Show.
The way David was acting (if you could call it that) was ridiculous. David, it is back to your 'Dog and Pony Show' for you. I am glad Jack Cassidy went on to have other children. I think the other brothers are very talented and will go on to better quality work.
On the Disney/ABC TV website under ABCFamily channel programming, Ruby & the Rockets is no longer listed in the lineup. Now don't start arguing that it is because the season is ending and the show is going into a break. Secret Life, MIBI and 10TIHAY are all on breaks but are still listed. Ruby & the Rockets is not listed because IT HAS BEEN CANCELLED!!!!

We didn't actually film a series finale, because we didn't know if were going to pick it up, and actually there's really no reason for you to watch the show any more, but please do it anyway. We won't resolve any of the storylines, but hey, who cares? We gotta run something between those commercials.
Here's what's going to happen. The last episode will air, it'll be just like all the other episodes in that nothing is resolved, and the show will quietly disappear into the TV black hole. End of story. Deal with it.
How can there be a story ending? Each week Ruby was a new one off episode storyline. Ruby found her dad, moved into her uncles house, she was accepted and became a member of the family right away and they all lived happily. THere is nothing that had to be resolved!
What I do not understand that if the show is cancelled why is the network calling this coming episode a season premire...when a show is cancelled the network will advertise final some many episodes and stay tuned for the series finale next week...but abc family is just advertising the season finale...y would this be if the show was ending

Dramaqueen8981 doesn't seem to think this is enough evidence and is waiting for ABC Family to send a memo personally to her announcing the cancellation. Come on, think about it....why would the star of the show know that it was cancelled? And why would we believe her? Clearly Alexa doesn't know what she's talking about. I want to point one thing out...if it is cancelled why is it the SEASON finale and not the series finale. From what i can tell it will be back next season, since they are advertising a season finale.

I just heard about the cancellation this morning, and I was very upset. I still am. I don't know why they are taking it off. It has high ratings and is #1 in that summer tv show poll. What the hell is wrong with ABC Family!?!? I am so sad and angry and I am going to go crazy without any new episodes of Ruby and the Rockits!!! This show is so great!! WHY!! WHHHHYYYY!!!
I can't believe ABC Family is letting this show slip through it's fingers. It has been getting such high reviews in the press. And on talk shows too. Even Ellen DeGeneres, Marie Osmond, Brooke Shields, and Oprah all say that they love the show. Marie and Brooke specially. Since they have children who watch ABC Family all the time. So ABC Family take that to the bank.
The show is great and should stay. Or ABC can move it to their normal TV channel were they have shows like Desprate Housewives. We need good family shows like Ruby. We don't have many of those anymore. Most of the shows on TV now are reality crap. And I don't let my kids watch those. My kids however do love Ruby. And when I told them that it was going off the air they cried. Because they love it so much. So please keep the show on for the Kids.
