1) Alot of babies are born with a temporary eye color shade. Babies permanent color usually doesnt come in until a few weeks or up to around 3 months after they are born.
2) simple genetics -- it is very possible that two brown eyed people have a blue eyed baby. This is possible if both the parents have the blue eyed gene. BUT it is not possible for two blue eyed people to have a brown eyed baby because blue eyes are a recessive trait. Brown eyes = BB Blue eyes = bb so if both parents have brown eyes but have a blue eyed baby then that means their phenotypes are both Bb. (so that would be: mom = Bb, dad = Bb so you would cross all the phenotypes and get: BB Bb bB bb) This means that they have a 75% chance of having a brown eyed baby and 25% chance of having a blue eyed baby and that three of their children will carry the blue eyed gene.
