I hate how the show title is The Secret Life of THE American Teenager, as though all we American girls get pregnant in high school. "The" should be "an."
And, on a very unrelated note, I can't stand Amy's clothes! Love her bag and boots, though.

wildfire12345, I have to disagree that just because you had a baby with someone means the two of you should be together. My parents are divorced, and I know I'd rather have a "broken" household than an unpleasant, day-to-day atmosphere. Plus, I want my parents to be able to find people for whom they're better suited than one another.

I'm a brunette here to say blondes are not dumb. That's just common sense, isn't it? We all hear the jokes, but we know they're untrue. I have to admit, some of them are really funny, but when I tell them, I just say, "A girl..." rather than "A blonde..." because what's the difference?

OK, nobody chew me out or give me any spoilers, please! I just started watching this show a couple days ago. I've only seen episodes 1 and 2. It's entertaining, though rather laughable in some ways.
Here are my first impressions:
1. It's hard to buy that Amy slept with Ricky. (I'm not denying it, I'm just confused.) Why would she? She seems demure and obedient to me. I wish we were offered some details as to why she would ever be compelled to do what she did. Did she even like Ricky?
2. Well, it's driving me nuts how she's ignoring the fact she's pregnant, hasn't told Ben she's pregnant, and hasn't told her parents she's pregnant, as though she won't swell up or pop out a baby someday!
3. Does anyone like Ben? I find him to be an annoying dork...And his professing love for Amy so soon is rather ridiculous, which at least he sees and admits. Amy shouldn't have given a half-hearted "I love you" back due to pressure, however. (Not to blame Ben for her feeling pressured, because it's your choice how you react regardless of anyone else's influence.) I mean, they're in high school. I don't think any high schoolers know what love is--what it entails and what it means, how it feels...We may have an idea or name whatever we feel--even if it's really infatuation or lust--love, even though it's not. To take from Seinfeld (I'm an Office/Seinfeld girl), it's not a lie if you believe it, so Ben isn't lying. But I don't know, it's just intolerably mushy to me.
4. Grace is my favorite character, and I'm not even religious. She's so sweet without grating on your nerves. But why she should come even close to forgiving Jack is beyond me. I'm sorry, but dishonesty is a character trait that is, all too often, ingrained and nearly impossible to change (unless you REALLY work at it). And he succumbs to temptation. I hope she wakes up.
That's all I have to say. No matter the negativity some of my first impressions imply, the show is engaging and I'll keep watching them online to get caught up.

i used to be a christian. i have nothing against them its just when jack says pray with me to adriane is sorta sounds stupid because when would a 16 year old actually say that. my personal oppinion oral sex sounds really gross. plus i also think that at the beginning of the show and season that adrienne is like a [filtered word] but then i start to like her. i guess i begin to realize she's just misunderstood.

I think that Ben is sorta stupid because he falls in love so easily with amy. i think that bens friends alice and that dude they are so funny i love them. Grace at the beginning of the show in season 1 is so stupid but then i start to like her. Jack looks stupid with long hair but so hot with short hair.
